Epara
A planet almost entirely covered in ocean which forms the Walgar home planet and capital of the Eparan Covenant.
Epara's watery oceans are filled with aquatic life, giving rise to some small land based species which live on the small, rare islands. Though the walgar species have evolved here, they have managed to obtain some psionic attunement through some unknown mechanism which sets them well apart from most other species. Other factions thus constantly try to send science teams, or in many cases, spies, to this world, despite it being a homeworld. There is little else that has been found here that is not found on a 'typical' water planet. Efforts by most factions continue, wanting the advantage they could get from these psionic abilities.
Due to its massive oceans, Epara has a large amount of aquatic life. Some of them have grown to massive sizes, and were easily capable of eating a walgar, which are much larger than humans. However, the walgar have developed very advanced technology and can now easily fight to defend themselves, so there is only a small amount of the megafauna left. Most species were eradicated completely.
The many underwater cities can become quite large, and take up little vertical space, mostly spanning across a huge area across the underwater seabed. This is because of potentially powerful deep underwater currents which might destroy some taller buildings. Due to this, the value of land is higher though some groups have made efforts to construct structures with several stories. These are often reinforced very well in strong waterproof materials.
The planet also has a number of features due to its geological activity. There are large tectonic plates which can move, giving rise to features like underwater mountain ranges, huge trenches and even volcanoes. Ecosystems have developed in many extreme locations including very close to these volcanoes and trenches. Volcano eruptions might even be helpful to some ecosystems as they leave a massive void which will be filled quickly by some underwater plants which evolved to spread across these lands rapidly. Most planetary ecosystems are well documented.
Though the planet is fairly large and thus has a stronger gravitational pull, this has a much smaller effect on aquatic life because of the non compressive nature of water, still allowing some creatures to grow to massive sizes. However, the water pressure at great depths is even greater because of this and many creatures living in deep ocean trenches often require very strong shells, or other ways to withstand the immense pressures. It is difficult for the Eparans to build a submarine to travel this deep, though some more advanced factions such as the HF could do this fairly easily. An eparan would be crushed by these pressures.
