Nagero

A planet of the Leosus System. Nagero is a fairly large, rocky planet that is covered in strange blue life. The atmosphere is fatal to humans and almost all known sentient species, but no sentient species has evolved on the planet yet, nor are close to evolving. Nagero has no moons but it has a large asteroid belt which also takes up a blue colour. The Leosus Federation often sends mining equipment to the asteroids to mine it.

The life on the surface is strange and unknown. It has thus become a point of interest for scientists learning about xenobiology. What would be the chances that a similar ecosystem would be established elsewhere in Fortrais? Because of these questions, there are a number of Leosan laboratories which litter the surface in some places. Only very few species that are reminiscent to other planets have been observed on Nagero. Perhaps the planet has archaeotech on it, perhaps the Xadia Ancients are performing experiments with this world, or have some other plan.

Because of these experiments, it has been established as a no mining zone. Mining equipment is not allowed on the planet where it could damage the ecosystem, though it is allowed in orbit and the asteroid ring as long as it is unharmful to the planetary ecosystem. Many other significant construction projects are also banned, such as factories and large cities. Small towns used to be allowed in order to provide scientists with a place to call home on the world, but with the invention of teleporters these houses were abandoned and taken over by the ecosystem. This has also been studied and now many images are available with alien blue moss growing on old Leosus structures.

The planet has, surprisingly, been successfully preserved for tens of thousands of years. Following its discovery as the various Leosan species began looking to the stars probably around 40 000 - 50 000 years ago.
