Pseudodragon

Pseudodragons are a species of small dragons with a barbed, scorpion-like tail. Mostly known for their playful nature, pseudodragons are favored by many wizards as familiars, and are also commonly adopted as pets.

Basic Information

Behaviour

Pseudodragons’ general attitude is often compared to that of a house cat, though they possess an intelligence comparable to that of the average Human. They are wary of evil beings and are extremely averse to cruelty, and will never associate themselves with cruel individuals. A pseudodragon often vocalizes animal noises - a rasping purr indicates pleasure, while a hiss means unpleasant surprise; pseudodragons are also able to communicate telepathically   On very rare occasions, a pseudodragon may seek humanoid companionship. It stalks a candidate silently for days, reading his or her thoughts and judging his or her deeds. If it finds the candidate promising, the pseudodragon presents itself as a potential companion and observes the other's reaction. If the candidate seems delighted and promises to take very good care of it, the pseudodragon accepts. Otherwise, it flies away.   As companions, pseudodragons might seem arrogant, demanding, and less than helpful; their companionship hinges on them being well fed and groomed, and on them receiving lots of attention. The companion must pamper it and make it feel like the most important thing in his or her life. If the pseudodragon is mistreated or insulted, it will leave, or worse: play pranks when least expected.
