The Blood Sea is a crimson gyre without shoreline, which is a hungry ocean where storms are verdicts and predators are policy. Currents snare, wrecks accrue like barnacles, and mercy drowns last.

Enforced by kraken bailiffs, wereshark rangers, and sahuagin press-gangs. Crimes: withholding tithe, calming a storm without license, star-reading to defy her course, harboring the rescued without paying Breath-Debt.  

Economy and Exchange

Tithes of pearls, captives, charts, iron, and brined luxuries buy escorts, storm-aiming, or safe harbor.  
Exports
Curse-knots, storm-bladders, shark-tooth arms, drowned-amber. Imports: slaves, steel, rare alchemical coolants (heavily taxed).  

Customs

The Drowning
Candle-ring, flood-surge, survival equals service; the spared are marked callable at any tide where it is called also the Initiation.  
Thawing Tide
Ice-break pageant; a bound beast is cast adrift where survivors are sacred chattel.  
Tempest Invocation
Congregants extinguish drift-candles over offerings to aim a storm or deflect one.  
Wreck-Tithe
All visitors leave salvage or a living pledge at the Gallows Shoal; refusal invites the sharks’ vote.  
Broken Oath Law
Oath-breakers lose the ability to hold breath during Squall Hours.

Geography

Below a skyless glow, layers of warm scarlet brine ride atop ink-cold trenches. Sargassum rafts knot into drifting crowns; wreck-reefs rise from iron-rich spires; black smokers exhale metallic snow. Red tides bloom along convergences, and colossal maelstroms, imitating Merabyss’s eyes, which they are open and close with her temper, swallowing fleets and spitting them out as jagged graveyards.

Linked hulks form tide-tunnels; pilots count bell-buoys of bone for safe drift.  
Tithe Passage
Presenting pearl, blood, or breath at a Tithe Buoy buys a hour’s escort current—prices rise when the barometer falls.  

Inhabitants

Wereshark packs (favored), sahuagin war-shoals (under Sekolah’s banner), kuo-toa congregations (under Blibdoolpoolp’s gaze), sea hags, drowned undead, marrow-eaters, merrow press-gangs, kraken bailiffs, leviathans, storm elementals, water weirds, and predatory flora (stinging sargassum, strangler kelp). Petitioners arrive as Drowned or Riptide-Born, shaped by how they met the sea.

History

Once, Merabyss had a dominion in the lands of Silvanus, however as she was reluctant to acknowledge the Oak tree, as her superior, she made a pact with Nyx, who promised her powers - and thus through the Gods War, she passed directly into the Water Elemental Plane with such forces, that Istishia, the Primordial, couldn't hold the lines against the vast forces. However ,the fickle nature of Istishia, the Elemental Lord, had left Merabyss to her devices in the Watery Plane.
