Agathys
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Agathys, known as The Frozen Betrayal, is the sixth and deepest, most desolate layer of Carceri. This plane embodies the harsh finality of betrayal, imprisoning souls whose treacheries were cold-blooded, calculating, and utterly devoid of remorse. Here, the landscape is a frozen wasteland, an endless expanse of ice fields, jagged glaciers, and towering, frost-covered spires.
Geography
The very air freezes memories and emotions, turning compassion into ice, warmth into bitter frost, and hope into a silent, cold oblivion.
In addition, Agathys is a minor negative-dominant realm, sapping vitality with each passing moment. The cold is supernatural, not merely a lack of heat, but a presence in itself, a hunger that clings to breath and soul. The air is razor-thin, leaving all but the hardiest breathless after exertion. Those who linger in place too long may find the ice creeping over their boots, then their limbs, then their lips, entombed in minutes, unless rescued or sacrificed.
Beneath the surface, vast glacial caverns creak and moan, grinding the frozen dead between slabs of pressure-born cruelty. These sounds resonate through the ice like distant thunder or muffled screams.
