Flint Embercoil
Flint Embercoil
Flint Embercoil is a gnome of The City, where he works for the Ministry of The Wall in the Department of Mechanical Maintenance.
Appearance
Flint has a rugged, yet approachable look. His beard is typically kept relatively short, adding to his laid-back, down-to-earth vibe. His facial hair is usually dark brown or a mix of darker tones with some salt-and-pepper strands. The beard is well-groomed, though often a bit scruffy, giving him a slightly untamed, natural appearance. His face is characterised by his expressive eyes, which remain the focal point, and his facial features are softened by the beard, giving him a more mature and distinguished look while maintaining his charm.
Occupation
A keen inventor and engineer, he is perpetually pushing the boundaries of technology, bucking the status quo, and finding more natural or beneficial solutions to what he considered to be existing problems.
His approach to innovation has resulted in him being labeled as a maintenance crew member that is fixing things his own way rather than the "done way", which has naturally resulted in friction and conflict. His family name has helped prevent any significant consequences, though Flint may not comprehend quite to what extent.
Relationships
His father, Whizbang Embercoil, is a respected member of the Ministry of Innovation and Invention and has utilised his influence to ensure his son is kept to the safest assignments. Flint regularly circumvents these arrangements, volunteering and swapping for roles in outer-wall maintenance, and performing extra curricular work.
He has a close relationship with his supportive mother, Bramble Flarenut, regularly visiting for family dinners.
Flint's older sister, Thistle Embercoil, is following in their father's footsteps. While they have a good relationship, she disapproves of Flint's approach in much the same way.
He has a playful relationship with his two younger twin siblings, Pip Embercoil and Sprocket Embercoil.
Flint maintains a close friendship with his colleague Quelanndex, whom he knows as Dex. Dex intervened during a work-related incident, saving Flint but injuring himself in the process. The two have become firm, trusting friends, and Flint takes every opportunity to show his gratitude and repay the favour.
Though not within his department, Flint has on multiple occasions attempted to discuss and detail his mechanical and magical solutions and innovations with Sage Bateleur, head of the Department of Magical Maintenance.
