Varal
Varal is a major port city on the outer ring of the Leysarian map. Hometown to Ireus Zoeyr, the city has been run by a variety of powers in the past including the Kingman's Cradle Thieves' Guild, the Blue Moon Trading Company, the Dorath Mining Guild, and Boldo's Payne Industries.
Today, Varal is a prosperous city with its sister city Nivizen lying just to the west over the Whitebridge. Integrated after being freed from the grasp of Captain Mavinelo, Gevaldo, and the Coalition, the denizens of Nivizen have brought their tinkerer's mindset into Varal, constructing lifts that span the gap between the forested Rift below and the city itself as well as a set of sky trams that carry citizens from the city upward to Celegard, where the firbolg elite have historically lived.

Demographics
Bronze dragonborn and goblins make up the plurality of Varal's residents. Firbolgs in Celegard constitute 15% or so of the population with roughly half of the material resources; other populations exist within Varal in smaller quantities, including humans, elves, and the occasional tiefling.
Due to its proximity with the newly-established Nivizen, there has been an increase in the population of halflings as well.

Government
Varal has alternated between oligarchy and dictatorship. Currently, with Ireus at the helm, the city operates a 7-member Council with representatives from each of the major 7 residential districts in the city. This Council gathers to allocate resources, resolve disputes, and plan for the city's expansion and increased production. Meetings are often tense with the 7 councilpeople obviously prioritizing conflicting interests based on their neighborhood's needs.
Districts
Ballesill
Varal's original residential district, the most prominent feature of the land here is that it is a gently sloping hill slowly retreating away from the ocean. As the hill gets higher and higher the residents become increasingly poor, so much so that the alley at the top of the hill is colloquially known as Bird’s Eye Alley, simply because little but a bird can fit in the space between the houses. Beyond this alley the city transitions into the Copperscale Gate neighborhood, with the peak of this alley bordering the northern edge of the Copperscale Library Reserves. Just down the Alley a bit further lies the Nest in the southeastern corner of the district, an underground fighting ring that has been the lifeblood of Varal's underbelly for generations.Black Market
Exactly what you'd think. Within this district, however, are actually several different black markets based on the wares that one might be searching for. Primarily run by Big Z.The Cellars
Lightly residential area just south of the Quays. The Cellars are also the name for a section of structures that serve as the city's cellars in fact, distributing food and supplies to the city's needy without discrimination.Copperscale Gate
Primary residence of the city's population of dragonborn, who populate the Copperscale Library Reserves. Primary managers of thisGoblintown

### The Armory
A holdover from the Coalition's time in Varal, this massive block of a building is rigged with explosives said to be capable of leveling the entire city if any but the Coalition's Praetarch crosses the threshold. Little else is known about this structure due to the rumors surrounding it.
