Mana Manipulation
Mana manipulation is the act of using mana to perform magical feats. This process takes many forms, all of which are considered magic and constitute some type of mana manipulation.
Corporeal Magic
What most people call “magic” is actually the structured system of mana use developed by corporeals. It allows users to create spells using elemental energies granted to them as they progress through the three stages of magical development.
However, this is not the only — and not even the most common — form of mana manipulation in the world.
Stages of Corporeal magic
Corporeal magic functions in three progressive stages. Each stage grants access to a new magical element. These elements vary from person to person and form the foundation for all spells. Spellcasting involves shaping these elements with intent, fueled by the caster's mana pool.
Stage One: Birth
At birth, an individual is marked with their first element, though they may not be aware of it or able to use it yet. If their mana proves strong enough, this element becomes the basis for their first spells. If their attunement to mana proves lacking, they may never access it at all.
Stage Two: Ascendance
When a mage gains precise control over their powers and learns to maximize their capabilities, they ascend. This moment varies from mage to mage, depending on skill and training. Advancement is based purely on control and efficiency, not power alone.
Upon reaching this stage, the mage’s mana pool expands modestly, and they gain access to a second element.
Stage Three: Transcendence
There isn't much known about the third stage because most magicians never reach this far. It isn't known exactly how to get to this stage. Many magicians reach here accidentally and then formulate a method for others to follow, with varying rates of success. When a magician achieves transcendence, their mana pool increases substantially, and they gain a third element.

Magical Abilities
Beings, both Mystic and Corporeal, may be born with a magical ability, even if rare. This ability uses mana to power its magic, and is, therefore, a type of mana manipulation.

Mystics
Mystic races are born with a shared racial magic that they all learn to wield. Among mystics, this is the most common form of mana use. To corporeals, it appears alien, as they lack any form of race-specific magic.
Some Mystics are able to access corporeal magic, but this is rare. Even when it happens, most mystics prefer their native abilities over the structured system used by corporeals.
Universal Magic
Any being capable of mana manipulation can gain access to any of the universal magics, either instinctively or through practice.
Universal magics are the most basic types of mana manipulation,
Mage's Sense
Anyone with the ability to manipulate mana will eventually develop a sensitivity to the natural background mana of the world, and they will learn to sense minor changes within it, in order to detect the casting of magic by others.
Cloaking
just as a mage will learn to sense magic, they will also learn to hide their own, in order to be able to cast magic, without others tracking their every move, many more experienced mana manipulators will do this unconsciously, but most corporeals don't live long enough to get to that level of familiarity with their abilities.

Mana
Mana is the main word used for magical energy.
It is not only the fuel for spells but also for life itself. Everyone has some small capacity of mana, because mana is what keeps the soul alive, and the soul is also where mana is stored.
The amount of mana someone has access to is an inborn quantity, and it is referred to as your mana pool.
Your mana pool is like a muscle, though, and regardless of its starting size, it can be trained and exercised to be much bigger and more resilient.
Because mana is stored in the soul, the bigger the mana pool, the brighter the soul is in the spectral realm, when it is full, of course, as a mage uses up their mana, the light also dims.
Magical Phenomenon
These are the natural occurrences of magic, they are also a form of mana manipulation, but not by people. They are either environmental or systems put in place a long time ago by one of the divine beings who created this world.
Dark Magics
Dark Magics are a collection of Universal magics which are considered to be of a less savory nature, they are each either outlawed, or heavily regulated for their own reasons.
