Lupinor

Wolf Kingdom

Lupinor is the frontier kingdom of the Felmer, they are the ones who guard the rest against the Nalsai, a battle they have fought dutifully for many years, with the aid of all their kin.
The Nalsai would see all Felmer kind killed. Hunted down and turned into trophies. It is for this that Lupinor commands respect from all other nations, for they have fought this beast for a thousand years and lost only border territories.
The other Felmer all offer them aid, mostly in the form of trade and warriors.

Golden Hills

The southeastern hills on the borders with Brunaetak and Felinor are rich in gold, and there are a number of gold mines in the area. This is the primary industry that keeps the nation afloat, and it is the reason why they have been able to keep this war up for so long, as opposed to those the Nalsai had to conquer in order to get to their borders in the first place.
This gold is, in turn, used as a symbol of their royalty, and they adorn all ceremonial objects with it.
They also use it to pay for Xamylkarian and Borlandian mercenaries.
They also import a great deal of food to supplement that which they can produce themselves.
Another great source of income for them is trade, for they are the middlemen between their western kin and the Baskth to the east. Most of this food is imported from Felinor and Rodentia

Administration

Lupinor is an absolute monarchy, the king rules through warlords who are made responsible for different regions. This mostly takes the form of raising armies, with most of the actual ruling and administering being delegated further to governors.
The warlords then ride their armies into war alongside the king, and under his command and supervision.

The governors end up with the responsibility of building infrastructure and raising taxes, which has over time formed a whole new class of semi-nobility.

The Blood King

All five Felmer nations, all following the ursanist faith, have a carrier of the blood of mother bear, but only Lupinor has made said person their monarch, and bound the gist to their lineage.
Lupinor is a cognatic state, meaning that either male or female may inherit the throne. This inheritance is purely based in merit, and when the time comes for power to transition, the current monarch will choose the most suitable from among his or her descendants, and give their life, the blood of mother bear, and the crown of Lupinor, to their chosen successor.
This heir is chosen based on combat prowess and skill as a tactician.

The monarch is always expected to be a great warrior, and to marry a great warrior, especially if the monarch is female.

Culture

The Lupinorian family consists of two parents, their children, and grandchildren. When the parents die, the children leave to start their own households.

Relationships and marriage are heavily influenced by prestige, reputation, and warrior bloodlines. Personal combat skill and being known for it is the most important part, but having famus warrior ancestors certainly helps a great deal.
Those skilled enough to go to war and return are the most desirable, not only because they will live long enough to raise many children, but because they will surely be rewarded with high ranks and noble titles.

Everyone is a warrior in Lupinor, whether you are a stone mason, a carpenter, or a fisherman, you are a warrior first.
This is true for both men and women, and while women are not sent to war as much as men, they are still called upon to defend their nation in times of great need. It is also believed that unions between great warriors are more likely to produce great warriors, and it is customary for people to serve a few seasons in the army, perhaps a few years, and start a family upon their return.

Food

Like all Felmer, the wolves are omnivorous, unlike their animal counterparts. They still largely prefer meat, particularly for a type of elk that is native to their forest, or its domesticated counterpart, but they also consume a great deal of fish.
The plant part of their diet mainly consists of fruit.
Because of the war, they import a large amount of food from their neighbors, agricultural products from Rodentia, cured pork from Felinor, and fruits from Xamylkar.

Magic

Mages are desperately needed in Lupinor, as their power is vital in the struggle against enemy invasion. Those with the gift are often paired up together and expected to make more little mages.

The dominant magical philosophy is that of War. It's not that this is seen as magic's only purpose, but as its primary need right now.
They especially put an emphasis on countermage combat.

Mages are a valuable resource, and they are used sparingly, making sure that they are used to maximum effect.
Every dead mage is a tragedy, which is why they are used sparingly and carefully.

All mages in Lupinor are subjects of the Arch-mage and drafted into service as soon as they are discovered.

International relations

The Lupinorians have declared themselves neutral in the politics between the other Felmer kingdoms, and said kingdoms let them stay so out of solidarity, and they even aid them in whatever way they can. At times the Lupinorians have even been asked to mediate disputes as impartial observers.
It is also because of this that they have no real allies.

Besides their Felmerian kin, they also have a strong trade relationship with the kingdom of Brunaetak.

To their north, there lie the lands of their mortal enemies, namely, the kingdom of Lanisai, but often, this enemy is aided in their wars by Noldai, Nalsai'ia, and even the distant Kalanai.

Mother Bear

The Ursanist faith plays an important role in Lupinorian society, perhaps even more so than in the other Felmer nations.
Lita is their divine protector, and not only a symbol of power, but of hope, and the promise of better days.

The Order of Oso

This is a holy order of knights who dedicate themselves to the protection of Ursanist holy sites, temples, and the faithful people in general. They were founded in Lupinor but now serve across all Felmerian lands. To this day, around 60% of their members are Lupinorians, though they have representatives from all Felmer nations among them.
