The Art of Addition

Infusion, the mystical practice of imbuing objects with magic using mana, varies in its effects on different materials. Toughness and durability receive a significant boost, shielding objects from deformation or damage.

Mages infuse objects by channeling that mana into them. The effects of this infusion will, in most cases, depend on the caster's element, and while most are able to do similar things, the appearance might be different. Generally, this type of magic has more to do with mana than the element.

Infused Tools

Metals, such as bronze and steel, can be magically infused, which is used for tools, weapons, or armor. Although these metals struggle to retain mana for extended periods, the infusion enhances their performance. Notably, Jet stands out as a metal uniquely receptive to infusion, able to hold much more mana for much longer times.

Besides just simple enhancements, many elements can additionally grant special elemental properties to these metal crafts. A skilled infusion mage can do this optionally and can either focus on regular infusion or elemental properties.

Mana Wells

Certain objects, known as Mana Wells, excel at holding large amounts of mana over extended periods. Typically crafted from gemstones, meticulous cutting is required for effective mana containment. While glass spheres can hold mana, they often require a combination with gems for optimal efficiency. However, crafting a perfect glass sphere poses a considerable challenge.

Infusion Wells

This ancient technique involves using mana wells to infuse objects independently. This method remains shrouded in mystery, as this is one of the many bits of knowledge that has been lost to history. Such objects were used to enhance ancient weapons, granting them powerful magical properties.

Much knowledge of such devices has been lost to history, both due to it being a most advanced magical procedure, and many text about it having been lost or destroyed.

Yet there are remnants of such devices, left over from an age long forgotten, and modern scholars and magical experts have not given up trying to rediscover this ancient technique.
