The Day of Departure
The Day of Departure is the day The Flamekeepers determine which of their number will remain in The Hall of Memory, and who will depart to become Seekers. Seekers are given the day to prepare themselves and to say their farewells to each other and to Flame Tenders, though many Neri will already know if they will be a Seeker or not based on the numbers that have arrived.
The Day of Departure is not much of a celebration: more a day of sombre honour, and the last day many among The Flamekeepers will ever see their friends again.
