Neri

Neri (pronounced Neh-Rai) are uniquely not considered native to The Land of The Power, but they are also technically not from any other world.
Every 101 years, the orbit of the fire planet Cardineri brings the planet into closer proximity to The Land than usual. The proximity increases temperatures across the Land by a minor amount, but also inspires a wave of wildfires, which are so numerous and great that they are often inspired into humanoid figures - children. Even after the fire has died off and extinguished, the children of the flames remain behind. They are considered alien by most species and treated with some level of distrust and uncertainty considering their inflammable nature, though many that are born across Aederace are taken in by Elves, and guided to seek the Halls of Memory, where all Neri ideally find their way eventually.
Neri are a playable race in The World of the Power.

Neri Traits

Creature Type: Humanoid
Size: Medium (5-7 feet tall) or Small (3-5 feet tall). You choose the size when you select this species.
Speed: 30 feet

As a Neri, you have these special traits.
Darkvision. You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
Firelight. When you choose this species, you may choose if you emit light or not. If you choose to do so, you emanate Bright Light in a 5 foot radius, and Dim Light for an additional 5 feet.
Fire Immunity. You have immunity to fire damage. Additionally, you can breathe without difficulty in smokey environments.
Cold Vulnerability. You are vulnerable to cold damage. You take 1d4 cold damage when you are first fully submersed and at the end of each of your turns thereafter. You only take damage this way while you are vulnerable to cold damage.
Ashen Memory. Neri can store and retrieve memories from flame. When a Neri puts their hand into fire, they may tell a story in their mind, storing that story within the flames. Any Neri who touches that flame, or a fire born from its ashes, can sense the presence of that story and may choose to hear that story in their mind.
Reach to the Blaze. You know the Produce Flame cantrip. When you reach character levels 3 and 5, you learn higher-level spells, each of which you may cast once without a spell slot and without needing any material components. You regain the ability to cast it in that way when you finish a Long Rest. Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for the spells when you cast with this trait (choose the ability when you select this species). You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. At 3rd level you learn the Burning Hands spell. At 5th level you learn the Continual Flame spell.
