Overview
Suna is a region defined by the waterways of the Frail Ocean, consisting solely of islands with no singular continent. Its boundaries extend from the open sea in the north and east to the bordering islands of Eren's Asur Misoa and the Kirsi archipelago in the west. At its center lies a crescent-shaped island, the largest in Suna and home to its capital kingdom, Sirelina.
Climate
Suna's ocean tides bring varying temperatures and sea conditions depending on the area and day. The region's tropical climate is due to its low-altitude islands. Summers are long, starting in late spring and extending into fall with abundant sunshine. Winters are mild, with no snowfall except for occasional snowdrifts on the far western islands near the ice region. Tropical storms occur year-round, with occasional rain outside the storm season.
Natural Resources
The Water Region's tropical and sub-nautical landscapes provide vital resources that drive Suna's domestic trade and exports. Abundant seafood—fish, seaweed, and crustaceans—are key products. Rainforests and cloud forests supply sustainable lumber, while unique plants and animals thrive in these habitats. The region is a top global salt provider, offering both rock salt and processed granules. Beneath the waves, merfolk and aquatic cultures sustain industries centered on marine resources. Hydrothermal vents in the Frail Ocean yield valuable minerals like copper, lead, and zinc. Sand and gravel sediments support construction and contain rare minerals and diamonds.
Society
Suna offers a unique experience with vibrant activity both above and beneath the waves. While foreign maps often overlook the region's waters, Sunan maps detail underwater landmarks and seafloor territories, much like provinces on land.
The capital, Sirelina, is the heart of Sunan governance and trade. Beneath its shores lies The Ring, a bustling underwater community of stone and coral, home to diverse sea folk. This dual-world city exemplifies life both above and below the waves.
The Summer Isles, known for their warm tropical climate, attract tourists with stunning wildlife and luxury exports like pearls. The largest island, Doria, is a hub for visitors seeking natural beauty and exotic resources.
Merilune, Suna’s second-largest city, is renowned for its naval dockyards and maritime culture. Known as the proving ground for legendary sailors, it boasts numerous harbors teeming with vessels of all kinds.
Scattered across the region are countless smaller villages, mostly southeast of Sirelina. Some lie in wetlands bordering Eren, where Erenian and Sunan cultures blend. The most daring Sunan fishermen venture northwest into the Devil’s Sea, a perilous area infamous for fierce storms and monstrous sea creatures, to harvest deep-sea catches.
