The Halkon Movement

In the city of Zanhor, within the kingdom of Astana, the neighborhood of Moonstead has long been a marginalized ghetto, home to one of the largest identifiable communities of dark-affinity magic users. While not enormous compared to other districts, its population is unprecedented in history and largely misunderstood. Moonstead’s residents are a peaceful, tight-knit community that understands the challenges of drawing magical power from the dark gate—whether through sudden awakening, personal study, or the natural tendencies of Night Blythes who find solace there. Despite this, they are vilified by the outside world, seen as a hub of deceit, sin, and corruption.

The Halkon Social Movement, named after the late Sir Ulfrid Halkon, emerged as a peaceful but fervent response to the ongoing discrimination and oppression faced by Moonstead and dark-affinity magic users across the realm. This growing movement seeks to challenge the stigma, advocate for equality, and protect the rights of a community long maligned by Zanhor’s nobility and society at large.

Built upon the foundation of aid and ideals championed by the late Sir Ulfrid Halkon, the community of Moonstead has found renewed purpose and unity in the wake of his passing earlier this year. Following his death, several opportunistic nobles sought to encroach on Halkon’s remaining assets and influence, sparking outrage among Moonstead’s residents. Refusing to let Halkon’s legacy be tarnished, prominent figures within the community began to rally more actively against the oppression and encroachment they faced.

This growing movement has unified under the leadership of Kendell Nocto, Halkon’s adopted child, alongside key support from the The Church of Nightfall and local retired veterans—some from Zanhor’s own ranks, others from abroad. Together, they have forged a coalition determined to defend Moonstead’s autonomy, preserve Halkon’s mission, and advocate for the rights of the disenfranchised. With their combined strength, the movement has grown more organized, their calls for justice echoing far beyond the boundaries of their beleaguered neighborhood.
