Loch Teora
A town built on the shore of a big mirror lake. Home to the first ember root trees. Old ruined temples exist on islands in the middle of the lake. Eldra and her kin first came to this lake to seek meditation after the Great Burning.
Loch Teora is a serene and mystical town within the Drekaya Empire, nestled on the edge of a vast, shimmering lake of the same name. The town is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere, stunning natural beauty, and deep cultural and magical significance. Loch Teora serves as both a peaceful retreat and a hub of magical study, drawing scholars, mystics, and travelers from across the empire. Loch Teora is perched on the shores of its namesake lake, a body of water so clear that it mirrors the skies above and reflects the surrounding rolling hills and ancient willow trees. Mist often drapes the lake in the early mornings, giving the town an ethereal quality.Legend holds that the lake’s waters are enchanted, infused with the lingering magic of a powerful dragonkin sorceress who once lived nearby. The town’s climate is mild and cool, with frequent rains that keep the surrounding area lush and green. The lake is dotted with small islands, some of which house ruins of old temples or mysterious stone circles believed to be ancient dragonkin constructs. The town centers around Teora’s Steps, a cascading set of wide, shallow stone stairs that descend directly into the lake, where rituals and festivals are often held. A graceful bridge known as the Moonlit Span connects the town to the largest island in the lake, Isle Sevrith, where the ruins of an ancient dragonkin temple now serve as a sacred site and a place for meditation.
Daily life in Loch Teora is unhurried, with locals placing a high value on contemplation and connection. Farmers cultivate terraced fields of herbs and flowers, artists sketch the breathtaking vistas, and the soft sound of lapping water creates a constant, soothing backdrop. It is said that Eldra and her most trusted kin spent several nights her after the end of the Great Burning, reflecting and attempting to seek some greater cure for the Ember Rage. Loch Teora is also the home of the first clutch of Ember Willows- The tree species responsible for growing Ember Root- ever to be cultivated by the dragonkin. The techniques and understanding of how to properly grow, prepare, and dose ember root was developed in this town, and still to this day is the home of most of the further research and discussion of Ember Root and it's applications.
