Featherlight

A small town with the irreplacable reputation as the home of Griffons and griffon riding. Breed and train griffons and the knights who ride them in Drakengard's legendary Griffon Knight regiments.
Featherlight is a small but renowned town perched on the edge of a vast, windswept plateau. Its location offers sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, making it an ideal home for the breeding and training of griffons, the majestic half-lion, half-eagle creatures that serve as mounts for elite knights in Drakengard, mainly at Griffon's Perch. Featherlight’s architecture blends practicality with elegance, reflecting its intimate connection with griffons. Houses are modest stone and timber structures with wide courtyards and reinforced roofs designed to accommodate the large creatures. The town's centerpiece is the Aeriedome, an enormous open-roofed arena and training ground for griffons and their riders.

Cobblestone streets wind through the town, and the air is filled with the sound of flapping wings, griffon cries, and the murmur of townsfolk. Feather motifs adorn every surface, from intricately carved doorframes to banners fluttering in the breeze, all dyed in shades of gold, white, and bronze to mimic griffon plumage. The townsfolk are a hardy, resourceful group, well-accustomed to life alongside the powerful creatures they rear. Blacksmiths specialize in crafting lightweight but durable armor for griffons and their riders, while leatherworkers create intricate saddles and harnesses. Merchants in Featherlight sell everything from enchanted falconry gloves to charms made with griffon feathers, which are believed to bring good luck. Despite its small size, Featherlight has a cosmopolitan feel due to its fame. Knights, scholars, and adventurers travel from far and wide to witness the griffons, and its part of the rite of passage of every Griffon Knight from Drakengard to personally meet their future griffon partners in service here.
