Dragon's Landing
A sleepy little dragonkin town with old historic roots. Sits in the bottom of the Jade Valley right underneath the Capital and the ridge it sits upon.
Dragon’s Landing is a tranquil and picturesque town nestled at the base of the towering ridge upon which Drekaya City perches. Sheltered by the shadow of the mighty capital above, this charming settlement is a place where the pace of life slows, offering a serene counterpoint to the bustling intensity of the city. The town is cradled by the lush Jade Valley, surrounded by emerald forests, fertile farmland, and crystal-clear streams that weave through the landscape. Dragon’s Landing is often bathed in the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the valley, with the towering silhouette of Drekaya casting its protective gaze down from above.Dragon’s Landing is built with a rustic charm, blending natural materials like stone and wood with design elements inspired by dragonkin culture. The rooftops of homes and shops are often shaped like scaled patterns, and carvings of dragons are common adornments. The Hearthstone Square serves as the heart of the town, a cobblestone plaza surrounded by cozy inns, tea houses, and small markets where villagers trade goods like handcrafted wares, fresh produce, and baked treats. One of the most iconic features of Dragon’s Landing is the Dragon Arch, a massive stone structure carved into the likeness of a dragon’s outstretched wings, symbolizing the town’s connection to its larger neighbor above. This arch marks the entrance to the main road leading up to Drekaya, a steep path known locally as the Dragon’s Tail Trail.
The people of Dragon’s Landing take pride in their connection to dragon culture. Still, they embody it in a more relaxed and familial way compared to the grandeur and political complexity of Drekaya City. Festivals and traditions center around celebrating dragons as protectors and proud people. One of the most beloved events is the Hatchling Celebration, where dragonkin from the capital sometimes help craft costumes for themselves and their young resembling all sorts of dragons, adorning their horns and tails with ornaments and wearing draconic masks. These families bring young children to the town, where the village comes alive with games, music, events, and storytelling. All fostering bonds between dragonkin and their community.
