Road Tubes
Road tubes are a network of large tunnels that run throughout the entirety of the Trench that allows for large scale vehicle travel.
Purpose / Function
With a structure as expansive and massive as the Trench, it became necessary for a system of vehicular travel to be possible aside from the Trench's monorail system. Taking inspiration from the interstate and highway systems of country travel, the road tubes were constructed to accommodate two lanes of vehicular travel and large-scale transportation of items. Like veins running through the body, road tubes connect the various sections of the Trench together with one tunnel system for every twelve levels. They run horizontally across a level of the Trench with large vehicle elevators at multiple points to allow drivers to go up and down a level.
Alterations
In the time since the Breakout, road tubes aren't used very much for vehicular travel anymore. Most Supernaturals don't know how to drive and the vehicles used by the Organization have been left abandoned which would make navigating in a functional vehicle challenging.
Tourism
While they're not good for vehicular travel anymore, road tunnels still see much foot traffic. Their wide dimensions and lack of twists and turns make them easy to travel through. Many caravans use them for trade routes. However, their popularity for travel also makes them a great place for bandit ambushes.
