Basic Information

Anatomy

The Frost Stalker is one of the apex predators of Kteiroa’s frozen plains — a hulking, six-legged reptilian mammal that tunnels through snow and ice using powerful claws and thermal sacs that melt passageways ahead of it. Its thick, white-gray fur is covered in crystalline scales that refract light, giving it perfect camouflage in drifting snowstorms.

Biological Traits

Origin & Ancestry of the Kteiroan Frost Stalker The Frost Stalker is believed to be a distant descendant of the ice-burrowing reptiles that once roamed Kteiroa’s equatorial regions during a warmer epoch. As the planet’s climate grew harsher and glaciers expanded across its surface, these hardy cold-blooded predators adapted in remarkable ways: evolving endothermic metabolism, insulating fur, and a unique crystalline scale structure that refracts and scatters light for near-invisibility in drifting snow. Local Aslan xenobiologists claim the Frost Stalker shares a genetic link with ancient Sindalian bio-engineered pack hunters, which were seeded on several marginal worlds as living food sources for colonial outposts. Over centuries of isolation and planetary cooling, these creatures diverged dramatically from their original stock, becoming apex predators finely tuned to the glacial caves and subzero plains of Kteiroa. Today, the Frost Stalker is the ultimate symbol of Kteiroa’s unforgiving wilderness — an ancient predator shaped by ice, isolation, and the harsh test of survival.

Behaviour

Frost Stalkers hunt in family packs of 4–8, coordinating through subsonic growls that can carry for kilometers under the ice. When prey approaches, they burst from the snow in a coordinated ambush. Aslan hunters respect the creature’s cunning and resilience; taking down a Frost Stalker with traditional weapons is seen as a rite of prowess and worthiness among younger warriors.

History

Cultural Note:
Among Aslan on Kteiroa, the oldest hunting stories speak of the First Stalker — a spirit beast said to test a young warrior’s cunning and patience. It’s common for second sons (ihatei) to try to prove their worth by taking down a mature Frost Stalker alone — or with only their pride-brothers as witnesses.
