Just give me three more shards and the horse is yours. - Thrifty Merchant
Norria has always been known for its lack of development in various areas due to its lack of organization. Even the very basis of currency is non-existent for the most part due to the lack of a centralized economy. However, they did manage to use a crude currency based on the values of certain materials, which were called Hack Shards, as they were chopped up into pieces to be traded for goods.

History

Bygone Currency

Hack Shards consist of small, jagged pieces of metal, often cut from larger objects such as jewelry, tools, or ingots. These pieces may show wear, engravings, or markings from their original forms. Their irregularity often reflects the resourcefulness of those who use them, and they were quite commonly used in ancient times by groups that thought out the world. Over time, this form of primitive currency died out with the creation of newer and more sustainable currencies that are easier to maintain. Overtime regions that still used it would form their own states or be conquered by their more powerful neighbors to change it to a more stable currency. Making it a very rare sight to behold should some want to barter with it rather than use coins to pay for it.   One of the last know places that actually still use it is then Continent of Norria which makes sense given its history of being underdeveloped due it being occupied by the Warlock Dominions that sought to keep their slaves as primitive as possible to avoid being overthrown. Besides bartering, Hack Shards are one of the only sure ways to make proper payment and considering that Norrians often raid in foreign lands make it easy for the replies the supply of it. Yet that has begun to change with the founding of the Kingdom of Norria that seeks to remove the currency entirely. Seeking to create a standard coinage to build a strong economy with shards slowly being replaced with coins over time. This has beginning of the end for Hack Shards, finally closing another chapter of an age that very few even remember as it press on into an unknown future.
