Circle of Unity

The Circle is the only thing keeping the branches from tearing at each other's throats; they are the only semblance of authority that exists out here. - Dylan Tillbrook, Range Apprentice.
Even in times of rebellion, there must be those who must take up the mantle of leadership to guide their followers into victory against all overwhelming odds. Yet, maintaining goals in the face of hardship and division can easily break apart a cause just as quickly. Yet, for the Brotherhood of the Wood, this issue has been averted through a careful balance of power through the Circle of Unity, a council of rebel leaders that do what they must to maintain the peace amongst their many members as they continue their long war against the occupier of their homeland.

Structure

Circle of Six: Each branch of the Brotherhood has a seat on the council that makes up its leadership, which deals with daily business and military matters. This has allowed each branch to have representation and ensure that any issues they face are resolved through the Circle.

Being A Member

Our numbers may be few in our war of liberation at the hands of those who would see us in chains, but we, the defiant few, still yearn to fight for what rightfully belongs to us by birthright. This has not gone without issues amongst those forced together by the desperation of those who seek to continue to fight with all they can give. Therefore, this council was formed for the good of all in the continued fight for freedom, with everyone standing amongst the Brotherhood. Yet it is because of this we must set aside our differences and who we were before we came to be in such a place, for they no longer matter in this bide for survival. The slate has been wiped clean and has made us equal in a circle of trust and loyalty in the goals we set out to accomplish for the good of our people; no matter how bleak it may be, we must keep hope alive.

What People Think About You

While having little power outside the Brotherhood, each member is vital in the complex and often chaotic diversity that makes up many within its ranks. With the wide variety of backgrounds and history of its many members, it is often challenging to deal with so many people who want something completely different from one another. Because of this, the Circle was formed to maintain a common goal and overall survival in the threat of utter destruction from the outside and from within. While it may not seem as much, the branches that make up the main body of the Brotherhood are content with what they have, as their leaders will ensure they have a say in the daily issues they face in the wilderness. So long as this cooperation is maintained and powers are kept in check, most of its members will carry out their duties without the belief they are being taken advantage of by one or more branches.

Public Agenda

To maintain the Brotherhood of the Wood's unity while planning the liberation of Ardania from the Vatian Empire.

Assets

Branches of the Tree: Each council member is in charge of an entire branch of the Brotherhood with all of their resources combined, enabling The Circle to increase efficiency under them.   Council Spire: An old and worn tower used by the Circle to conduct meetings without prying eyes and ears upon them. It was a round stone table that was found that inspired the council's name for equality.   Rations: To Ensure that food is not abused or spent quickly with the sheer numbers under their authority, The Circle has set up a ration system. Hence, everyone gets their fair share of food without applying favoritism.   Infrastructure: The council has complete control of maintaining the fortress to Del Toren and in defenses so that proper defenses and safety are kept under control and not left to be abandoned, leaving the Guardians of the Bole and the Custodians of the Roots being directly under their control.

History

Council of The Brotherhood

In the early days of the Brotherhood of the Wood, many attempts were made to establish a stable resistance cell that could be effective with what little resources they had. It would finally come about with the forming of the Branches of the Trees with six distinct groups that would maintain the effectiveness of the brotherhood in their fight against the Vatian Empire. However, the branches demanded leadership roles, with some asking for too much power over the others. This led to more division amongst them as status and heritage from before the war came into play in these debates. However, those who saw reason knew that only the best of them should lead as it was a matter of survival, and, in doing so, a vote to select the best leader from each group was proposed, leading to the founding of the Circle of Unity.

From that point on, the circle's purpose was to maintain the Brotherhood through unity, with all members of this council treated as equals in their fight for freedom. This has allowed no divisions to stir discontent and favoritism amongst the branches, with everyone having their say before the circle and its leadership having full knowledge of what each other branch is doing to avoid miscommunication. This has come with various checks and balances to ensure that none of its members step out of their authority, which could cause issues with the Brotherhood's ranks. Meetings amongst Circle members vary on the importance of the issues at hand, and only most of its members need to be present as they cannot always be present due to their active duties in the resistance that sends them off on assignments when needed. Yet their goal is the same, and so long as the Circle exists, the Brotherhood will focus on the enemies that seek to destroy them as they face odds stacked against them.

Survival Through Unity

In the years that followed the founding of The Circle, its leadership has conducted itself to leading the Brotherhood in their fight to liberate Ardania as much as possible through careful planning and information gathering. Much has resulted in some gains beyond the Great Forest and into the borderlands known as the Green Edge. This cooperation has strengthened the bonds of the Branches that make up the Brotherhood and has only become stronger with the more resources and manpower they managed to get a hold of. Enabling the Circle to have more authority in everything that the member of the branches, along with controlling defenses around Del Toren and rations to ensure that their people are protected and live long enough to see their homeland liberated through their unity. So long as that is maintained, The Circle will continue to further the plans of the Brotherhood to finally know freedom once more should they live long enough to see it.

Delicate Control

Laws exist for a reason, even with us in the wild, or we are no better than animals. - Brotherhood Guard
While it may seem true that The Circle of Unity has complete control over every aspect of the Brotherhood, it can easily fall apart if not adequately maintained. This is often why they have created specific rules on how they govern their people regarding voting and policies under them. Should anything come out of place, turmoil could easily be seen within their ranks, as desperation can quickly undo authority in their rebellion.
