Asmar
I keep telling them they can't be men. They can be twice the size and shrugged off the cold like it's nothing; it's best to stay clear of them. - Norrian RaiderThe Asmar is considered one of the more mysterious races of the Continent of Norria as their exact origins are clouded in a mystery often being replaced with the superstition. Most are scattered across the frozen north in scattered tribes, with few ever making contact with the other races and settlements of the continent. This leads to the question that few ever ask: do they have something to hide or want to be left alone?

History
Undetermined Origins
Throughout known history, the Asmar are a stoic and mighty race of giant warriors that are not to be trifled with should one cross paths with them. However, much of their history has remained unclear, and they have yet to explain it. While considered natives to Norria, much of its history does not include them as no records exist about them, only going back several centuries during the time of the Warlock Dominions as they began to appear all across the far north and claiming isolated areas for themselves. While many have claimed that they are just another experiment created by the Warlock Lords, others believe that they are a lost tribe of Humans that changed to survive the cold terrain better. Whatever the case may be, several things point out that they are not Human and have more characteristics than Black Guardsmen and Giants more than anything else. This has only led to more questions, some of which they refuse to answer for the most part, with the possibility that they do not know or don't want to tell anyone about them. All that anyone truly knows about where they came from was that a tribe in the north suddenly found them by accident, and the tales of these giant-looking men came into being until they became well known. Yet few in those times would try to communicate with them, seeing that they were just another strange creature living in the wilderness that should be cautiously met. The same might as well be the case for them since they do not welcome outsiders unless they earn their trust, which may take a long time as they judge one's actions more than their words. Besides that, much of their culture is entirely unknown to the rest of the continent.Stoic Survivalist
The Asmar have always been known for their quiet and reserved nature, rarely talking unless necessary as they go hunting and foraging for their tribe. Living in the far North can be complicated and challenging, and they have learned to adapt to it as much as possible through their strength and wit. The Asmar’s silence is not born of fear or lack of emotion but a deep respect for the forces that govern their harsh world. They believe words carry weight, and frivolous chatter might provoke the spirits of the ice and wind, who are ever-watchful in their frozen domain. Each breath is precious when frost clings to the air, and every whispered word feels like an offering to the vast wilderness surrounding them. Their sparse and practical villages are constructed of bone, stone, and tightly woven hides. They blend seamlessly into the landscape, camouflaged against the endless expanse of snow and ice. Here, the Asmar live in harmony with their environment, understanding the cycles of the land. Hunting is at the heart of the Asmar's survival. The Asmar hunters move like shadows across the frozen plains and forests, their rugged furs invisible against the frozen landscape. They know every creak of the ice and every whisper of the wind, and they can read the tracks of prey with uncanny precision. Patience is their greatest weapon, sometimes waiting for days in complete silence for the perfect moment to strike. The Asmar are known for their exceptional craftsmanship, creating bows that sing in the wind and blades that cut through ice like water. To an outsider, these tools might appear primitive, but to the Asmar, they are treasures passed down through generations, each imbued with the wisdom and spirit of their ancestors. The Bond with the Land
Foraging, though secondary to hunting, is a vital part of their life, as game can sometimes be scarce. The Asmar know where to find edible lichens and fungi beneath the snow, how to extract sap from the frost-bound trees, and which berries to gather during the brief summer thaw. They take only what they need and leave the rest for the land to heal. Their relationship with the environment is one of deep reverence, believing that the earth is alive with its spirit providing for them, but demands respect. After every successful hunt, rituals are performed to thank the animal's spirit and promise to use every part of its body; wasting is considered a grave sin, an insult to the life taken. In the far North, where the sun often hides, and the wind howls like a beast, the Asmar endure. Their quiet ways and steadfast determination have carried them through countless generations, their strength carved into the ice and stone of their homeland. To the Asmar, survival is more than just a struggle against the cold; it is a testament to their bond with one another and the land they call home. Much of their culture proves they can live in these harsh conditions, yet humbly know that they are not unstoppable towards its might. In their silence lies a story of resilience, wisdom, and a people who have embraced the frozen world as both a challenge and a sanctuary.Common Myths and Legends
Wise Lessons: When their ancestors walked alongside the spirits of the North, beings of frost and shadow who taught them the ways of the land. It is said that the first Asmar learned to hunt from a great white wolf and to forage from a raven whose feathers glittered like ice under the moonlight.
Frostborn's Sacrifice: An Asmar warrior who sacrificed their voice to seal a great blizzard spirit that once threatened to swallow the land. The Frostborn’s silence became the legacy of all clans, a reminder that words are precious and that even the quietest among them can wield incredible power.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Asmar tend to follow an isolationist view of other races, seeing that conflicts with them are inevitable as they constantly fight one another. While they trade with them and will tolerate them if they gain enough trust, they will always be cautious of them if they decide to fight them.
