The forefront spokesperson of the
Font of the Radical Ego, and attributed as its founder. Many-Hands is today known best for their tireless efforts to dispel old prejudices and restore the public image of
the Vicissitude.
Etymology
Though they're in records still registered under their glänner name
Sandrine Summers, their birthname is rarely used and heard. It's avoided in most official contexts, bar if required for legal reasons, as so few know of it that it's mostly caused confusion of identity.
Instead, they're near-exclusively known as
Many-Hands and have expressed a preference for that name. It was originally a shortening of their psiconoclast art label
'the many hands for those in need'.
Personal History
Early Years
Vattunda was a small, tradition-bound, all-eörpan town. A step into ancient history; well-isolated from the greater concerns and worries of the galaxy. Idyllic… but stale.
We were one of few that had to break isolation. The local health centers didn't have the means to help us. We guess this limited contact with the world outside colored our views, but it no doubt also colored their view of us. Maybe there were smalltown ignorance at play, or maybe it was just the subjective experience of a troubled, young mind.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
The Psiconolatry
Their help was well-meant but no less misguided. And we were young, confused, and impressionable. But… No. We have no regrets — We are happy with who we became.
There's also causality to consider: without them we'd probably not be here today. And vicissism might have kept on choking beneath the yoke left by the Indivisible Self.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
The Radical Schism
It's like… a neglected Taplas tree, whose canopy was left to grow tall and far and wild. Roots can only feed so many branches before the harvest suffers: you ought to carefully trim them from time to time.
As long as it lives, it's never unsalvageable no matter how overgrown it's become. But you might need to be ready cut it all down and let it start over. Give it all the love and care that it deserves, and it'll regrow healthier and more beautiful than ever.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
Vicissism Reformation
It's the fundamental error in the Psiconolatry's method: The Vicissitude isn't here to tell you who or what you are. It should help you asking those hard questions, and then give you the tools you need to find the answers. It should also teach you that there's rarely any easy, straight answers to find.
… And then show you that — no matter the conclusion you come to in the end — there is a place for you in this universe to love and be loved.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
Becoming Hierarch & Voice
We can't — nor do we want to — tell anyone how they should live, think, or feel. But we can teach by example; show there's another way open for them if they want to take it.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
Appearance
Many-Hands is a tall trans-
eörpan with long, silver-grey hair often seen kept tied in a loose ponytail. Their skin tone is a warm walnut-brown at base, with distinct lines and swirls made from patches and spots of cooler sepia.
Transmogrifications
As was customary, Many-Hands underwent a number of bioengineering procedures during their time in the
the Psiconolatry, with the intent of transmogrifying their body into a living art piece.
Of course we still believe transmogrifying bioengineering is a valid medical treatment. You deserve to be happy about how your body feels and what you see in the mirror.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
Their most eye-catching modification is the several, symmetrically located, pairs of hands grafted onto their upper body. These hands have limited motility, and Many-Hands has trained to use them for dynamically translating their spoken words to different sign languages. Outside of conversation, they're often held to spell out positive words.
"Where it's spent?" … The donation money? Oh! Why, manicures, of course.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
To both treat and tribute their condition, Many-Hands transmogrified their body to be of female anatomy from the navel down and of male anatomy above the navel. They kept their androgynous facial features.
Actually, we rarely get asked about that. Instead, what most want to know is: "Why did you decide to remove your eyes?"
Our visual impairment was significant enough that it didn't make much of a difference. The thought that we could take a treatment to fix our eyesight instead, funnily enough, never crossed our mind.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
Apparel & Accessories
In public they prefer to wear colorful, loose, long dresses without broderies or similar decorations. These are often custom-tailored to accommodate their transmogrified anatomy. Jewelry worn is made from beaded strings intersected by polished gemstones, and they wear multiple wood rings, set with smooth stones, on each of their hands.
Personality
Their affable and animate personality is commonly attributed as the main factor in their success as a spokesperson for the Font of the Radical Ego, and the increased popularity in the Vicissitude as a whole. They have proven naturally talented at reading the room, and unafraid of adding a bit of humor into their discourse — even if it's at their own expense.
Many-Hands is overall well-liked, and described as being kind, soft-spoken, humble, and self-possessed. It's not just on one occasion they've been poetically described as 'the grass bending with the wind', alluding to their disarming calmness even when faced with direct threats, and their propensity to forgive any slights done to them.
Gender Identity
Many-Hands always speak of themselves in plural, and have expressed preference to the 'they/them' pronouns.
On a genetic level, we're fraternal twins baked into a single body. We've always liked to think ourselves as two souls sharing mind and body. It only makes sense our body, mind — and consequently, our identity — reflect both of us.— Many-Hands, Hierarch of the Font of the Radical Ego
I love all about this character..and that goes especially for the art. How you managed to give them a look of friendliness without eyes is beyond me. Incredible work in art and prose
Thank you so much. <3 Having just recently taken the plunge to try drawing people again - been years since last - your words really mean a lot to me.
