Elves

Much like Kin, elves can be found in almost every environment and land of Urth. It is a widely held belief that elves are descended from the mysterious and powerful Sidhe of Otherworld. Their ancestors migrated from the Courts of the Fae in ages past, somehow becoming unbound to Otherworld and native to Urth. As such, the elves of Urth bear only a passing similarity to the elves of the Fae Realms. Both possess pointed ears as well as an otherworldly grace which they carry in body, mind, and spirit. In general, elves are slighter of build than Kin.   It is perhaps a consequence of this grace that gives elves their special relationship with the powers of Glamour and Time. With some effort, elves can use their grace as a protection from the forces of Glamour and Time, allowing those powers to flow around the elf. Elven minds can retrieve experiences from elsewhere or when, granting them skills that they do not currently possess. To an elf, this is like recalling forgotten memories. In some cases, it is simply that the elf is recalling what was once or what is yet to be. In other cases, the elf may be reaching farther back or forward through time or even through the memories of otherselves. While accessing Timeless Skills some elves will refer to the times in the past when they used such as skill proficiently, to a time and place yet to come when it will come to be or even recall fragments of events that will never be. Although it is rare, elves may experience an extended journey into one of these memories called a Fabling.   Long ago, the elven people underwent what is known now as the Culling. This dark event occurred long before the terrible time of the Wake. The Culling affected diverse types of elves in different lands in many ways, yet the result is largely the same- the elves lost a great deal of their fertility. In the nulvari of Koth, the Culling diminished the number of males that are born. In the solinari of Koth, the Culling diminished the number of females that are born. In the Silvani, their ties to the land have adversely affected their ability to have children in general. Silvani in Koth seem to need unspoiled lands to mate successfully and even then, such coupling is often fruitless. Aquantesi have similar issues, requiring unspoiled seas to breed successfully. Strangely, kindari seem to need battle of some kind and connection to their Icons. Elves tied to the elements seem to be affected by natural phenomena and other events which might be more common but largely unpredictable.   Elves live more than 10 times longer than a Kin. Despite this longevity, elves reach majority in just slightly longer than a Kin and remain untouched by time until their last years. Elves native to the continent of Haelos do not experience past Timeless skills. They are only able to reach forward or to their otherself for inspiration for some unknown reason.
