Royal Constabulary for Policing and Law-Enforcement

For millennia the law was enforced by guards payed for and recruited by wealthy nobles and rulers, never in recorded history had an organisation been founded purely for the enforcement of law in a city let alone a kingdom, that was until King Geralt Beaudoir ordered the founding of the RCPL (Royal Constabulary for Policing and Law-Enforcement) in the closing years of his life. Though still in its youth, the RCPL has seen much success, bringing law and order to the cities of Beaudoir, cracking down on the many criminal organisations that had once run rampant in the burgeoning kingdom. Even so, corruption is something that finds its way into every organisation no matter how noble its aspirations may seem, this fact is true even in the RCPL...

Structure

At the top of the RCPL is technically the empress, however, as she is often too busy with matters of state, so in each city the force is led by a Commissioner, the highest rank of officer. The Commissioner is voted for every 4 years by the chief superintendents and commanders of the city, and in turn appoints his Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners. A single officer can serve unlimited terms as Commissioner.   The RCPL is split into three different departments, each tackling a different aspect of policing. These organisations are:
  • Civil Enforcement Department - Responsible for the everyday enforcement of law and order. They are the uniformed officers that are called out to deal with ongoing crimes.
  • Criminal Investigation Department - Responsible for the active investigation of crime scenes and criminal profiles. They wear plain clothes often take part in undercover work.
  • Security and Anti-Terrorism Department - Responsible for the security of the king and other important figures, and the prevention of domestic terrorism. They often work along side the Raven Guard and wear uniforms much like the CED.
Each of these departments are led by a commander (also known as the chief constable, inspector general or chief of staff, depending on the department), and follow the same basic rank system. These ranks are as follows:
  • Constable/Junior Detective/Patrol Officer
  • Sergeant/Detective/Mobile Officer
  • Lieutenant/Senior Detective/Warrant Officer
  • Captain/Inspector/Chief Officer
  • Superintendent/Chief Inspector/Chief of Staff
  • Chief Superintendent/Deputy Inspector General/ Deputy Director
