Corax (Core-Ax)

As the capital of the Empire of Coraxia, Corax is officially ran by the Empress. However, because she is often busy with war and diplomacy, the day-to-day running of the metropolis is taken on by a council of nobles. This council is composed of nobles from the 38 non-royal boroughs of Corax (Okelee, Ridgeham, Deeramn, Cumberlond and South Docks, Redeye Harbour, Gedrick's Gate, Riverstretch, Denswich, Hameramn, Ealing, Aileslow, Grim Docks, Heroes' Square, Lothar's Garden, Greydon, Hughton, Stanléy, Themond upon Katria, Mockingly and Eastwall, Jadé Row, Aelin upon Katria, Daden and Averly, Addingly, Joburn, Fool's Cross, Curtaynloger, Chateaú, Lyon, Mottley, Port Henri, Maccrón, Giddingwich, Boréal, Vordt, Hammerstock, Kayle under Dreám, Oxbridge upon Katria, Ugh and Cammin, Wuttern). These council members (or lord/lady mayors as is the title granted to them) are voted for by the nobles that live within the borough, from amongst themselves every 8 years (each member can only serve three terms in their lifetime). The council members then select a small cabinet and take residence in their district's government hall. Every fortnight they must go to the Palace of Sorrows for a council meeting. The Empress may go to these meetings, but she is not required to, with her chief advisor usually taking her place. The current council members are:

Intellectualism and Technology

Corax is at the forefront of modern infrastructure. Over the past 100 years buildings have risen to new heights, factories have been littered the city pumping thick smog into the air and households have evolved to squeeze more and more people into them. The first railroad in the Nexus begins its journey in the city and roads have become wider to fit the mass traffic that runs through the city. Outside of the urban areas are suburbs of a multicoloured array of architectural style and vast sprawls of fields filled with grapes, olives, figs and livestock.
