Consumption of Green Thorn Mushroom

According to Legend a battle on the north slope of Coidavel between the Order of Dusk and the Order of Dawn occurred and the residual magic of that conflict sank into the mountain. It is speculated this residual magic affected the fungi that evolved into the Green Thorn Mushroom who's ingestion causes a trance state that takes one's consciousness outside the bounds of linear time

Within two hours of consumption the imbiber sinks into a lethargic trance. Within this trance outside stimuli will have no affect. Their body will remain in the exact state as when they entered the trance. The physical body will perfectly resist any and all damage. Poisons and other such harmful compounds likewise have no affect. It is as if the body is in some sort of stasis outside of time. This trance state lasts one to four days.   Those who recover, approximately one out of every fifty, speak of visions that show both past and future. Some regarding themselves and their own life, both past and present, while others can allegedly cover broad swaths of both history and the presumed future.

For the entirety of known recorded history those who lived in the vicinity of Coidavel or the Bitterbitte Mountains spoke of the rare and hard to find Green Thorn Mushroom. Many a venture has set forth to find it and many a venture has failed. Many a claim of success has been put forth, either to salvage pride or to perpetuate a con. But there have been, from time to time over the centuries, been a few more credible claims that keep the Green Thorn Mushroom and the outcome of ingesting it to keep the story of it alive.   In one of the rare cases of myth being largely factual the Green Thorn Mushroom came about do the amount of raw magical energy that was unleashed in the area north of Coidavel. The Northern slope was also the site of gates opened to The Outer Dark by the Order of Dusk. The base of the northern slope was where the forces of the Order of Dawn met the Demons and the Order of Dusk who had summoned them. The specifics of the battle were confused since the magics released by both sides had many strange and long reaching ramifications. The altering of local fungi within caverns near where the gates where opened and later destroyed was one such. It created a mushroom that was not quite anchored in time/space. Which is the real reason the Green Thorn Mushroom is so hard to find, though precious few have reached that conclusion. It appears at random seeming times, exists in normal linear time for some duration, then disappears again.

Those who are believed to have survived the experience of ingesting the Green Thorn Mushroom are often looked at with a reverence one normally associates with prophets. Many want to know what the future may hold or the truth about the past.
