Public Agenda
Sobek Inc. is an ocean exploration company that specializes in manufacturing exploration seacraft, such as personal submarines and underwater sleds. They're best known for producing the Explorer Submarine, which has an innovative moon pool inside of it, and runs solely on renewable energy. Their prime motivation for what they do is for the purposes of exploration. Even today, the ocean remains largely unexplored, and Sobek sought to fix that with their new technology. They've also wanted to preserve the ocean, and have done so with various campaigns all over the West Coast.
History
Sobek Inc. was founded in the early 21st century, by a man named Karim Attia, best known for designing some of the latest seacraft models in recent years. In its early years, Sobek had slight trouble with getting sales of their vehicles, until they launched an official mission to recover a lost naval ship off the West Coast. The ship was reported to have suddenly disappeared after a storm struck the coast, and it was never recovered, even after extensive searching from Sobek's submersibles. There seemed to be no trace of the ship or its crew members at all, which led some to speculate a supernatural cause for the ship's disappearance. Nevertheless, Sobek began gaining traction after the mission from the efficiency of their submarines.
A few years later, Sobek began investing in converting their vehicles and miscellaneous assets to run on renewable energy, though this method was expensive at the time. For some time, Sobek began losing more money than they were making, yet they continued with their predetermined goal. Eventually, their profits began racking up again after their performance spiked, mainly due to the rather effective use of solar panels on their submersibles. Though during that time, there was also controversy that they would be shut down for pursuing "such an expensive means of energy." Afterwards, they became even more well-known along the West Coast of the U.S., and have even planned to spread their influence in other parts of the country, though no moves have been made yet.
