Shawn the Jester
- Either he's very thin and lanky like a stick or he's a dwarf, right now I could go either way. In researching Court Jesters, I found that many were dwarfs and that through out history it was thought by many cultures that dwarfs were fun (I hope it was because they found them to have a great sense of humor and not solely based on their looks). And if Shawn was a dwarf, then it seems very natural for there to be a scene where he has to go back to the Mountain and we can get more background and banter out of him. But if he has to go back to the Mountain, then Wizard has to go back to the City. Ohh- it they went together them them we'd also get Wizard's reaction to the wood!
- Right now, much of Shawn's history is a mystery. Like what's his last name and why did he become a jester. Family business? Class clown? Liked the challenge of all the word play and rhyming?
- Views himself as an artist; a humor artist, a lyricist, a poet who know it, a comedic wordsmith, a weaver of absurdities, an observer of Life's tragic comedies. A Justice of the Fleeced? He calls everyone out on their bullshit, regardless of their financial or political standing.
- How was he picked to be the current royal court Jester? Did he win a scholarship or work hard to get there? I think he had left the Mountain because the competition was too fierce and was preforming in some Inn that the Royal Court was staying at and got lucky and made the King laugh and got the job.
- He doesn't personally have a problem with the Wizard, the guy's just another employee trying to not get fired, but he stands up to him every time the Wizard tries to start something.
- Wikipedia says jesters weren't just about making jokes and juggling. They were entertainers. They were like M.C.'s, kinda hypemen, they kept the party going. They told stories, sang songs, acrobatics, told jokes, imitations, puns!
- They could be very clever. The famous ones had razor sharp wits and kinda talked in memes and in jokes and made fun of those in and out of court.
- Jesters "absurdly point out the absurdity of what is otherwise called normal". Sounds like the voice of the Reader.

From Notebook Nov. 20, 2020:
- "...the wisdom of the fool often captures what reason fails to illuminate of a thing's meaning or significance: thus, the wise fool is often associated with the wisdom found through blind faith, reckless desire, hopeless romance, and wild abandon. In turn, the wise fool is often opposed to learned or elite knowledge..." It sounds like Shawn the Jester would always be at odds with the Wizard/Magician because of the latter's book smarts and his 'elite knowledge' and high brow ways. Raw wisdom as opposed to accumulated wisdom.
Nicknames & Petnames
The Wizard calls Shawn the Jester 'Shawn the Yawn' or 'Yawn the Jester'. Maybe Shawn calls the Wizard the 'Grand High Lizard' and the Wizard always responds with, "How original". Shawn difinitely says Wizard is not a "fun guy", like fungus/fun guy.

History
Shawn feels more like a friend to the King than just another employee. He feels sorry for him. Everyone treats the King like a big baby, except Shawn. He knows the King is just a man stuck in a gilded cage, more like the Queen's pet than a man. More like a jester than a king, except the Jester has a job to do. Shawn's happy when he can make the King laugh, but most of the time they just talk and Shawn tells him stories form his journeyman days in other lands. They end up hanging out a lot, actually.
