Gunung Tatama

Gunung Tatama is the highest point on the island of Bara and the site of the Uma-Bein - an Eclectic Temple dedicated to the gods of war. The mountain rises near the island's center and is difficult to approach, surrounded by rough terrain and fortified by the priesthood of Uma-Bein. The temple and the mountain are closely bound to a Dreamland known simply as The Battlefield - an endless plain of war where the afterlives of warriors are joined together under the Law of Association.

Control over the mountain is a major point of contention between the nations of Tiwu and Bara Karajan, though some believe this conflict is an artificial compulsion imposed by the god Asu-Ain, the war god of Bara. It was at his instigation that Uma-Bein was constructed, and the priesthood honors him above all others as the host of the Eclectic Temple. The priests of Uma-Bein also keep track of those who are masters of war throughout the Great Ring, whether or not they are associated with a war god. When such warriors achieve Apotheosis after death, the priests collect their relics - and at times, they even found cults in their name to deliberately hasten that process. Few understand why the priesthood seeks to increase the number of war gods in the world, but those who do find the practice deeply concerning.

Notable Spirits

The spiritual landscape of Gunung Tatama is dominated by the war gods of Uma-Bein - Asu-Ain foremost among them. They are accompanied by the spirits of fallen warriors from The Battlefield, who often manifest on the mountain's slopes and in the surrounding valleys, waging endless battles against one another before fading back into The Dream. This pervasive connection to the essence of war has stifled the emergence of other, more natural spirits that might have taken root in the minds of those living near the mountain. Many therefore regard Gunung Tatama as an extension of The Battlefield within the Physical Realm.
