Tiaret Fairmane

Mouthpiece of Pyrus Fairmane

For the Leonin communities of the Pridelands, the birth of a winged child was a gift, but the birth of a winged daughter was the highest honor. From a young age, the daughters of Pyrus Fairmane were trained in multiple styles of combat, were educated to the highest degree on all facets of Geryon’s Law, and were held to the highest standards of honor, order, and justice. Tiaret was the second daughter of a Consort residing in a riverside town of the Pridelands. Like her elder sister before her, Tiaret embraced the societal expectations thrust upon her and joined the ranks of the Menseya with pride. Although skilled with a spear and blade, Tiaret was an outspoken supporter of non-violent methods of enforcing the Law. Even when pursuing the most dangerous of criminals, Tiaret only drew her blade when necessary and most of the scars she bears were earned in defense of the weak, the powerless, and her younger sisters that followed her into the ranks of the Menseya. Although composed and well-spoken, she tended to crack jokes at inopportune times, a coping mechanism she developed to manage her stress.

When her predecessor perished in the War of Written Words, Tiaret was chosen as the next leader of the Menseya – the mouthpiece of Pyrus himself. Although grateful to have received such an honor, Tiaret was beset by uncertainty. What really happened in Ira Xand? Tiaret never found the answers she sought and so the seeds of doubt took root in the absence that lingered. Still, Tiaret led the Menseya with her head held high, devoted to both her father and Geryon’s Law… until Diamond. Tiaret had apprehended hundreds, if not thousands, of Yuan-Ti that had sought to stir up trouble in the Pridelands. This Yuan-Ti woman was not deserving of the punishment levelled against her. She needed rehabilitation; she needed someone to fight against her abuser… not name her complicit in her abuser’s crimes. Was she truly fighting against the serpent’s influence? Or was she prosecuting the victims on his behalf? When the gods are wrong… who is responsible for confronting them?

When the gods are wrong, is it not our duty to challenge them? To stand with honor between the misguided and the wrongfully accused.   One day, you will have to choose: cowardice and complacency… Or honor and sacrifice.   One day, you will have to make such a choice, little sister. But today, it is my choice. If father will not hear my pleas, I will make Geryon listen.   Go now, with the final blessing of a sister who is honored to have known you.
