Nandi Shalona
Many of the most notable political leaders in the Pride Halls were among the Consorts of Pyrus Fairmane. Nandi was the last of a long line of Consorts. Born in the Pride Halls, Nandi proved to be clever and fierce from a young age, unafraid to take matters into her own hands where others would idle. Despite possessing the qualities and makings of a great leader, Nandi was barely religious and initially harbored no desire to enter politics. As a young adult, she proved her merit mostly on the field and quickly became one of the top athletes of her generation. Many of the younger residents of the Pride Halls whisper that Nandi bested Pyrus himself in a match and that’s why she became a Consort. Nandi neither confirms nor denies the story.
Nandi’s life trajectory changed when she fell pregnant. She chose to honorably step back from any athletic career and, instead, became invested in the affairs of the Menseya. The warrior women became her new priority and focus. Even though she was far younger than almost all the Menseya, she became a mother-like figure to many of them, even before she gave birth to her son, Enzi. The other Consorts residing in the Pride Halls were pleased to have another among them and Nandi quickly learned how to manage various affairs of the Pride Halls. Despite her youth, Nandi proved to have the wisdom and grit to weather particularly nuanced and complicated affairs. Thus, it was Nandi who was tasked with arranging and overseeing Diamond’s trial. As she goes about preparations, Nandi balances her young son on her hip. Even though he cannot yet speak, Nandi claimed that Enzi made her feel wiser and filled her with a sense of promise and hope.
