Delot Unit #404-52DFSNT

Serving as the audience's perspective inside the automated culture of the Delothian Collective, Delot Unit #404-52DFSNT or 404 for short (slang for a web page error code) is a spineless bureaucrat sent to the Ilocanos-7 shipyards as punishment for his incompetence.

Eventually, Ulysses "Ollie" Dylos, AJM-001 & Eucidrie kidnap the bureaucrat and use his access codes to escape the shipyards aboard The Psygorellius.

Forced into service on the Psygorellius by order of the Psygonaut Mandate, 404 serves as the ship's liaison to the Collective as well as its code administrator (transmits Delot codes to access Collective structures such as DST Accelerator Lanes & Risidome automated docking procedures).

However, given the chance, 404 would do anything to get back in the graces of the Collective. He just needs to overcome his outdated chassis' programming and his cowardice.

Origins:

Following the usual pathway all Archaeids take to becoming Delots. 404 was born and raised with the hopes he would become a Delot to raise their family out of poverty in the slums of Thessalis-Prime. He held a particular gift in writing code and disseminating streams of data.

However, 404's early life involved getting pushed around because of the tainted blood, inherited from a genetic disorder. A fact that fostered a resentment towards his family.

  However, when he became of age for the Soul Matrix Conversion, the board determined he barely met the requirements and was given the honor to become a level 3 Delot and join the Collective.

Given a turn of events, those who jeered 404 were denied acceptance into the Collective due to allegations their parents participated in the Lanaxdrian Revolt several years earlier. A lie with evidence fabricated by 404 to enact his revenge. Even his own acceptance by the board is questionable, given his genetic disorder. However, all evidence of such have mysteriously disappeared.

From this point on, 404 used his station as a Delot to make the Archaeids below him suffer whenever he had the chance to show the higher level Delots his aptitude for advancement. However, the connection to his poor, Archaeid parents keeps him from excelling into the snooty Delot high society.

Even though he was looked down upon by the higher level Delots as being a clumsy and unimpressive model. 404 enjoyed (and occasionally abused) the status of being in the lowest level of the higher echelons of society. Resolving only to be a "lick boot" for the higher level Delots in the hopes to penetrating Delot high society.

This arrogant behavior was only exacerbated when he was conscripted for his 5 years of mandatory service in the Delot Armada as a Strategos aboard a Delot tri-deck.

However, 404 started experiencing glitches in his central processor (a result of his tainted blood imprinting poorly onto his Soul Matrix). Because of this, 404's glitches caused problems and glitches throughout his ship (given strategos serve as their ship's brain). As a result, his ship went down after his sensors failed to pick up an incoming comet.

404 was disgraced and set to the Ilocanos-7 shipyards to be the administrator and Delot presence while serving as the Archon's data administrator.

The Escape on The Psygorellius:

His glitches and incompetence will hamper the shipyards' operations. By the time of his kidnap by the Psygonauts, Nerogonese would've been relieved to have gotten rid of 404. 

However, hidden deep within his memory core, 404 possessed secrets Nerogonese needs back.

So the Archon will secretly communicate with 404 and promise him a seat in his Tyranny if 404 can help Nerogonese kill The Psygonauts by sabotaging their mission from the inside. 

404 will do his job on The Psygorellius and occasionally creating glitches to help Nerogonese kill the Psygonauts and/or have mercenaries extract him out of the Psygorellius.

However, 404's ambitions for advancement, cowardice & overall incompetence will foil Nerogonese's plans.

Not to mention, most of the crew will distrust 404 for his devious nature and the fact he's a Delot. However, they're forced to protect the Delot at all costs. Ollie & AJM-001 need his skills as their data administrator to get past Delot security and to use his codes to access the DST Accelerator Lanes.

However, Lysandrix: a hot-tempered Lanaxdrian warrior princess keeps watch over the shifty-eyed bureaucrat. Eager to find a reason to forcibly disassemble the Delot and The Psygorellius' only hope of getting to The Black Void Nebula.

404 will also become a physical representation of Ollie's ambitions. During their quest to the Black Void Nebula, Ollie will start harboring doubts about returning home.

Seeing an opening, 404 shares the story of Thycidres-Mar (a disgraced Delot Strategos who was responsible for losing the Ionite colony of Lycurgius-12 to raiders was exiled, de-matrixed from his Delot body & sent to live out his days in shame the second he returned home to Thessalis-Prime).

Believing he'll receive similar treatment for losing the first Americans to the depths of space, Ollie nearly gets The Psygonauts killed during their flight from the Colcion Confederacy (Aurora Crown in hand).
