Runic Dreams
Writing System
The writing system is similar to the ogham alphabet. Top to bottom, left to right. On occasion, one word is cut off when there is no more room on the material. Sentences are started and ended with end markers, and a new line is started after the end of a sentence.
Geographical Distribution
The language, Runic Dreams, comes from Somnicoron. While not many gods other than the gods of the arts know the language fluently, the grand majority of fiction and artwork on The Godship has ties to this language. That being said, making art is not limited to the savants from the world of dreams, and many other gods have created exceptional art, some featuring Runic Dreams.
Phonology
Even if you were to convert the runes to letters, you would find that half of them aren't pronounced, but they are instead inferred by intent and tone of voice. If you were to listen in on a conversation in Runic Dreams, you would hear much less than if it were written.
Syntax
There is no punctuation; tenses come immediately after every verb, regardless of previous tenses; verbs come after nouns; adjectives come before nouns; adverbs come after verbs; there is no punctuation; sentences are generally very long; and sentences are often around sixty percent adjectives and adverbs.
Tenses
Tenses in Runic Dreams are marked with a special tense mark. The full amount of tense markers is: present, future prospect, future omen, future certain, past ended, past continued, past beginning, past forgotten, past remembered, theoretical, and emotional. Tenses are not spoken as marks, but as their own word.
Curse words do not technically exist in Runic Dreams, instead replaced with flowery adjectives, which, considering the inherit creativity of those from a land called 'dream crown', can easily turn into something much worse than if they just had curse words. In addition, given the history of Somnicoron's destruction loop and its focus on the human arts, several phrases have formed. Examples include:
