Session 005 - Into the Valley: Part II

General Summary

The heroes met with a revenant that guarded a bridge over Tser Falls, where they learnt he was banished from Sir Vladimir Horngaard. The revenant advised for the heroes to speak with Sir Godfrey Gwilym to the west of Barovia. They had heard that Sir Godfrey awaited for those who would raise their swords against Strahd at Argnovostholt. The revenant recognised the silver pendant worn by Aurora Silverleaf, and mentioned the Order of the Silver Dragon that resides at Argynvostholt. As the heroes continued on their journey towards Vallaki, they came across an old, cracked stone circle, that bore the symbol of The Seeker, and contained a three-pointed star, however they were not a hundred percent sure on the meaning of this. Further along the path, they came across a windmill where they ran into Morgantha, an elderly lady who baked delicious pastries. Hephastus Heavyhide did eat one and had a deep and relaxing sleep. After recognising the house, it was confirmed that the windmill was once owned by the Durst Family of the Death House, but now is the home of Morgantha. There were some shenanigans, and the heroes saw Morgantha freeze time, and she left the heroes to their own devices as she continued into her home.   After this, the heroes continued their journey, where Ireena Kolyana convinced them to make a short detour to Lake Zarovich, where she told the heroes that the lake was often in her dreams, but she was confident she has never visited this lake with Ismark Kolyanovich and her father. Shortly after this, the heroes were attacked by two werewolves and a number of wolves who they were able to defeat, however Selkis Netah did fall in the battle and decided to take the pact with a demon which resulted in her losing her eyes.   Continuing on, the heroes approached the town of Vallaki at dusk, where they found a large number of tents. On investigation they found that it was a camp of Barovian refugees, housing those who survived the trek from the Barovia Village in the wake of Strahd's siege a few weeks ago.   The heroes eventually gained entrance in the town, but not before they were thoroughly searched and interrogated by the town guards, and opted to stay the night at The Blue Water Inn before they would continue to the church in the morning. At the inn, the heroes met Danika Dorakova and Urwin Martikov who are the owners of the inn. The heroes hired rooms, purchased food, and had a short rest before deciding to head back downstairs to eat their dinner.
