Prince-Bishopric of Ostleckt
The Prince-Bishopric of Ostleckt is the center of Kosmevair in Cloriadme, though it sits in the far east of the region. Most of the lands under their possession were taken by devout Kosmevair citizens as a response to the devastating events of the Cloriadmen Crusade. Since then, they have primarily worked to spread their faith through the region and to stamp out heresy, as well as to defend against potential threats from demons. The Prince-Bishopric is an observer to the Cloriadmen Confederation but is not required to join wars.
History
The Prince-Bishopric of Ostleckt was founded because of the Cloriadmen Crusade. Without that event, it is highly unlikely that the nation would have ever been formed, and most probably that the Kosmevair faithful within the Cloraidmen lands would need to rely on the scattered clerical orders of the religion. However, the Crusade was so devastating that both the priests and elites of Cloriadme felt a need for a permanent clerical fortress.
The Cloriadmen Crusade would have its background in the rise of Kazielbon. In 1638, the noble Egrivalad, who had guarded the Cursed Woods since the region was known to them, lost control of their great magical shield which warded the woods. The fall of this shield, which essentially warded the woods, whose barrier with the Shadow Dimension was very thin, from the rest of the nearby areas, allowed a vast host of devils and demons to immediately seize upon this weakness and establish the nation of Kazielbon. Kazielbon would almost immediately conquer the Egrivalad of the lowlands, and soon began pushing west into the densely populated Cloraidme. This was their main focus, as opposed to the highlands to the north, which had less resources. Therefore, the nations of Cloriadme would bear the brunt of the invasion, especially Terales. Demonic hordes roamed their countryside, sacked the capital, murdered the royal family, and caused chaos within the country.
Meeting this reckless hate was the Cloriadmen Crusade. Devout peasants from across the lands, inspired to holy fervor by the tales of horror from the east and by radical preachers, formed a vast horde which would soon be accompanied by thousands of professional soldiers from the whole confederation. Though the war was hard, and the crusade often lacked effective direction, and peasants deserted as often as they joined, eventually the demons were pushed back and their armies swept from the mortal plane.
In the wake of this war, the Cloriadmen nations seized control of the slopes of the hills dividing them from the Egrivalad and established the Prince-Bishopric of Ostleckt. The Bishopric would be led by the new Eastern Order, a dedicated clerical group devoted to protecting and defending the borderlands from all threats that may harm the faith. At first, the order was extremely radical- they supported efforts, especially in Terales, to root out the sect of Tweledism on the grounds of heresy. In addition to this, the order led the inquisitorial efforts to root out "traitors" from Terales postwar. These so-called traitors included Tweledism, hero-worshippers, and those unfortunate enough be be assaulted and later bear a cambion child, as well as these innocent children. Indeed, this inquisition was later used to target political opponents of the new republic, and was so brutal and far-reaching that it ended up causing a permanent split between Terales and the Republic of Alfumerra, which became a haven for Tweledists and later gained its freedom. Eventually, the harshnes of this inquisition would lead to it being disestablished and the order was removed from prominence in Terales, but not before much harm and overreach.
Since then, Ostleckt has been dedicated to their mission of "protection". Often, this mission includes armed raids into Egrivalad territory, which harms the Egrivalad defense of their renewed shield, but just as often do conciliatory bishops send aid to the Egrivalad. This inconsistent strategy has not, however, earned the nation the trust of the Egrivalad, and the tribes refuse to settle in their nation. Most of the population therefore owes their descent to the population that was expelled from Terales but which was deemed reformable and not executed (and then used as slave labor for building their forts), as well as priests and their lines. However, it is always receiving new initiates from across Cloriadme, and many soldiers are called to serve a holy duty, so they never lack defenses despite the low population density. The Bishopric also serves as a major center for most other Kosmevair orders which have a presence in the east, so there are many priests from other sects passing through.
