Clesentian

Clesentian Centaurs are the dominant culture of centaurs on Telgren (and, indeed, the only one). Their name stems from the Khanate of Clesentia, a medieval state which united and organized the centaurs of Telgren or the first time since the collapse of the Enpire of Oleandron. Before this time, there was no unified centaur culture to speak of, despite common silimiarities stemming from their shared ancestry. Since the time of Clesentia, the centaur tribes have generally maintained their own independent structure, only uniting one more time since that point. Nonetheless, the common Clesentian culture remains, characterized by a shared lifestyle, societal organization, language, and religion, Dän-tengr Burkhn.
The Clesentian culture revolves around these main points of unity, with many other traditions being different the further east and especially west one goes. Due to this, there are often considered to be three separate subgroups of the wider Clesentian culture. The southern region of centaur settlement consists of mostly Zalmachegch centaurs. The most populous subculture and in many ways the dominant one, their influence stretches from the high steppe to the Bardlamegch clan, just past the plaires recteit (narrow plains). The Zalmachegch are usually more organized than the other groups, leading a warlike existance and constantly being in flux between the dominance of different clans. To their northeast are the Vyrath, who following the collapse of the Clesentian Khanate migrated east and were not unified by the second centaur khanate. They are more warlike and ferocious than even the Zalmachegch due to needing to fight for space with goblins and humans. Thanks to the fall of the Fregobbans and the Plains manors, they have gained mastery over the steppe and seen a resurgence in the past few hundred years. However, with the advent of better technology their dominance is being questioned. Furthemore, they lack agriculturally viable land, relying entirely on herding and hunting and preventing the settlement of society. To the northwest are the Arcesegh, considered the most reasonable and least warlike centaurs. Mostly ruling over the more lush areas by lake Arcesiel and the rivers leading up to it, they have a much more concentrated and sendentary population than the other centaurs. Unfortunately, this has not prevented them from being conquered over and over again by Zalmachegch clans desiring their richer pastures, much as in the time of Clesentia.
