Šarrugameš ap Zerahl

Šarrugameš ap Zerahl (pronounched Shar-roo-gah-mesh) is one of the most powerful demigods known to have existed in this world. While his current whereabouts are unknown, it is assumed that he still lives somewhere due to the circumstances of his disappearance.
The following is unknown to the mortals of the realm:
Šarrugameš was born to the True God Zerahl and an unknown primordial woman sometime before the War of Realms. It was certainly after the births of Auya, Keeper of the Sun and Fýla, Keeper of the Moon. Šarrugameš, though young during the war of realms, is a demigod, and had great power. He fought in his father's armies for most of the war, though he was dispatched to guard Dryads at some point. Šarrugameš fell in love with one of the dryads, and began contemplating starting a family of his own during this period. He began to become less warlike, turning his swords into plowshares. However, peace was not to be, for soon the Divine War started. With the dryads fighting on the front lines of this war, Sargon and his lover had to take to the battlefields, though his love was eventually evacuated from the front lines after the rise of the Feykin for fear the enemy would strike her to harm the son of Zerahl that haunted them so.
Alas, this failed, as one devil lord in particular, known as Ilfernix the Damned, deduced the reason for certain dryads being expempted from military service. He raised several assassins and struck at these dryads, which led to Šarrugameš deserting the frontlines as soon as he heard. He rushed home to protect his lover, but it was too late. Her corpse greeted him, in a house too dark to be natural. Given no time to grieve, he was immediately assaulted by a Mawromoar, one of the Category 5 Demons. Due to his rage, Šarrugameš was not at his best, and it took him five days and five nights to defeat the Mawromoar. But defeat it he did, burning its body with his fury alone. It was at this point that the devil lord Ilfernix the Damned intervened, seeing that Šarrugameš was tired. Taunting Šarrugameš by assuming the visage of his lover, he goaded him to further anger, reveling in his suffer and growing his power with such. Though Šarrugameš, as a demigod, could probably have normally defeated Ilfernix, he was weakned from lack of sleep, rest, and by his anger (after all, being a son of Zerahl, his rage was a double-edged sword). Nonetheless, the battle between Ilfernix and Šarrugameš lasted for weeks. Every time Šarrugameš looked to be a goner, his rage grew and he restored his strength. Every time Ilfernix seemed to be on the back foot, he leeched energy from the land, ruining the garden grown by Šarrugameš and his dryadic lover. Ths would stoke further rage from Šarrugameš, and so the battle went on. However, Šarrugameš could not fight forever in this state and began hallucenating from lack of sleep. Seeing four or five Ilfernix, he nonetheless fought on, despite the fact that only 20-25% of his attacks could hope to connect now. His twin swords broke, warn down to the very core from striking the devil lord. Seizing a tree from the ground, he battered the devil lord again and again until the tree burned from his rage. Finally, wielding a spear of rage energy itself, which caused the devil lord great pain, he managed to land serious blows. But he was weakening, and Ilfernix knew this.
Šarrugameš bled from a score of wounds, big and small, having fought without rest for 25 days and nights. His foe, though battered and brusied himself, was in far better shape and sliced at him again and again. Finally, Šarrugameš fell to his kness, and the devil smote him such a blow his body split in half. Yet still he did not die, such was his anger and rage (being a demigod helped as well). He reached out with two hands as his body fell apart and ripped the devil's very skin from his body before embracing him in a death grip, burning his soul itself to slay Ilfernix. But devils are slippery things, and Ilfernix managed to escape. He didn't look quite as collected as before, and his voice was raw from the searing agony he had shrieked into the sky as his flesh burned. He had underestimated the demigod, and payed the price. Never again would skin grow on his body, and forever would he bear the imprint of Šarrugameš' hands around his neck, where they had tounched him the longest. He spat words of hatred and despair, of death and magic, at the dying husk of a man split into. However, suddenly he realized that which he had not before. The presence of Kyvos, so omniscent before, felt... wrong. He hadn't noticed it before, while he was being burned and strangled, but something was definitely wrong. It is most lucky for him that he realized this, for a powerful presence had begun to show itself. It was that of a god, and it was not Kyvos. In that instant, Ilfernix knew that god had lost. He immediately fled the scene. The goddess Nephraen appeared a moment later. Being the goddess of life and death, now that Kyvos had lost she could sense a strong life force going dim, and rushed to the scene, being very compassionate and hoping to help. Finding the body of Šarrugameš, she realized he was the young demigod who had come to love one of her dryads- truly love. Seeing the wreck of the house, the scorched corpse of the Mawromoar, and the flayed skin of what she could tell was a devil lord laying next to the unconscious halves of Šarrugameš, she quickly deduced what had happened, but also realized that Šarrugameš still had hope to live, if only because of her great skill with this matter. Sewing the halves of his body together with a golden thread made from her tears, she placed him in suspended animation in a hastily raised barrow, hoping he may eventually heal.
This visit from the goddess would prove to be the last contact Šarrugameš had with anybody for thousands of years.
