Fragrant Festival

The Fragrant Festival is an annual celebration in Titan's Hand. It takes place at the Spring Equinox, coincidentally when the Yusan flowers that grow along the coast first open their flowers and spread a light, sweet scent across the whole town.   The Fragrant Festival has been observed for millennia, though the tradition has grown more elaborate over the years. The integral part, a dancing competition of skill and endurance, has remained mostly the same with only the style of music adjusting itself to the fashion of the times. It is held at the end of the festival (after all the stalls and attractions are closed) and its winner is crowned with a prestigious prize and often wins fame in the town, at least until the next person wins. Often one can practice the choreographed section of the dance during the day of the festival by the Hand's Square, but the second half relies entirely on the participants' endurance.    During the period of mourning for the hero Edra of Titan's Hand, the Fragrant Festival was held in her name and honour, and many of the events and attractions made reference to her heroic achievements.
