Filkas Smorah

Filkas Smorah is a charismatic, jovial salesman specialising in enchanted equipment and magical items, and the owner of Trinkets & Tronkets. He is a highly trained sorcerer who offers to take customers' weapons, armour or other equipment and enchant it with his known spells. Sometimes, he even buys certain items off adventurers passing through, intending to enchant and then sell them.   Filkas is very well known in Ironstar, as most people enjoy his suave personality (the others absolutely despise him for it, mostly out of jealousy) and cheerful attitude. Regularly seen chatting happily with other shopkeepers or, on free days, enjoying the company of his many friends in the Bleeding Sail, it is hard to miss him on most days.  

Early life

Filkas was born in the Colliennach Forest and grew up in a small village by the edges of the Sapphire Eye. His parents owned an Inn there and so he often met merchants or travellers staying there. From them he heard about the world and learned how to read and write, having never received basic education. One day, a young Filkas met a travelling sorceress, Lenwai Aldergaze, who showed him how to enchant items and channel his magic properly. Under her guidance, Filkas created a Ring of Roundup, a carved wooden ring that summons a spectral butterfly. He still wears that ring today.   After his education at the Arcane University in Farathin, Filkas found Lenwai again and applied to work for her, further learning the ways of commerce as well as enchantment. When Lenwai lost her magical powers, she sold Filkas a property in the Wellspring district of Ironstar that she had wanted to open a store in, but no longer had use for. Thus, Trinkets & Tronkets was established.  

Encounters with the Disparates

The Formidable Disparates first met Filkas at Trinkets & Tronkets when they were tasked with bringing him a secret, sealed letter (which they opened, read, and resealed in an alleyway) from The Rose. He quickly took a liking to them, and over the next few weeks the Disparates would repeatedly visit him in his shop to buy, sell, or simply talk. After the Disparates returned from Mig Dural, they learned that Filkas had gotten engaged to Stendar while they were gone. He promised to invite them to the wedding.   When the Cult of Paphy attacked Trinkets & Tronkets, Filkas was badly wounded and had to be brought to a temple to be healed.
