Pale Empire Walls

The Pale Empire Walls of Katrapetch encircle the majority of the ancient city, although it has subsequently spilled beyond their boundaries in many places.   In the image at the head of this article we can see the downstream Jold River Towers which stand guard over the entrance to the city from the east and cap the wall on the north and south bank. This is the route that the phryne barges use to transport the red leaves to the Katrapetch Phryne Market and unattended but warded pallet boats are anchored here awaiting the services of a pilot to take them upstream.
