Helbidden Barrow

On the east bank of the Greenwade River, where the road from Helbidden to Earthengrew and Tylisfort curves south and east, a low range of rounded green hills stand unremarked by most of the travellers who pass between them on their way to living towns. But if you know where to look, a little track winds up and away from the main route. And if you are prepared to scramble along some rough paths with a few steep ascents along the way, you will come at length to Helbidden Barrow.   Local historians know that Helbidden Barrow was the ancient burial site of the Kings of the almost forgotten Kingdom of Helbidden. Long before the Sundering and even before the Trinity Moon Triple Enfolding (of which the Kingdom of Helbidden was a founder member) the first King of Helbidden carved deep chambers in the soft rock overlooking the river and made an elaborate mausoleum for his royal dynasty. Generation after generation they were buried there, until the Kingdom fell with the ice from the north. Unused in the Long Thaw, ignored in the age of the Twelve Wise Ones, neglected under the Old Pale Empire and almost forgotten in all the thousands of years since the Planar Conformation, the barrow still stands and keeps the secrets of the dead watchers who overlook the sleepy provincial agricultural town they once ruled with so much pride.
