Concord Speaker
The Concord Speaker is the elected leader of the Concord Committee and represents the interests of the Healing Concord to the city rulers and world leaders of the day.
The appointment is made at the beginning of each full meeting of the Concord Committee and lasts for ten full years until the next full meeting. After that, whilst it sometimes happens that a new candidate will emerge to challenge for the position, it is quite common for the existing incumbent to be re-elected, almost as a formality, and to hold the office for life.
When a Concord Speaker dies, they are replaced by a deputy until the next full Concord Committee meeting.

Responsibilities
The Concord Speaker is responsible for negotiating with civic authorities and plays an important role in the generation of funding for the charity. Many cities are happy to let the Healing Concord take a leading role in supplying health care for their citizens and in return they will send tithes and taxes to fund the services they receive. Whilst the Concord Committee maintains an oversight of all financial acti through the treasury sub-committee, it often falls to the Concord Speaker to make the final decision when there are problems with the terms of these arrangements.
