Tandoori

Tandoori is a hot, desertlike moon on the Icy Foyer Gate Network Ring E. Dominated by sandy valleys and high, rocky mesas, Tandoori harbors native non-sentient life. Tandoori is one of several moons of a large gas giant. It has air breathable for humans, though the temperature during the day can cause death in humans in only a few minutes. The temperatures during the night are lower, although not comfortable, and can be endured by humans. With the appropriate climate-controlled shelter and a secure, renewable supply of water, humans could survive here. At some point in the past, Tandoori did not harbor life. Then, the Maeglin built an installation on the surface of the planet that was designed to foster life. It worked, and the planet now harbors life. Tandoori is the site of a Maeglin Terraformer built by High Templar Nel-Tesk. The Terraformer sits on the savannah 25 miles away from the planet's Gate and is responsible for the development of life on the planet's surface.

Fauna & Flora

Despite the harsh conditions, Tandoori harbors life. At the bottom of the food chain are a form of tree with a calcified exoskeleton that grows around underground aquifers. The trees protect their source of water using a poisonous gas. Their "leaves" are similar in texture to unsalted jerky and are eaten by small ecosystems of pests. Also prominent producers are a balloonlike photosynthesizing organism the size of blue whales that float through Tandoori's atmosphere. Upon their death, these creatures deflate and fall to the ground before being used as nesting habitats for scavenging creatures. Tandoori is the home for several species of large meat-eating predators, including a large burrowing sandworm and flying vulture-like carrion eaters.

Natural Resources

The fauna on Tandoori is naturally flame-retardant and could be used to create fibrous textiles. Tandoori also has small supplies of drinkable water. The trees of Tandoori grow protein-rich large chunks of edible plant matter.
