The Sword Shadow

The Sword Shadow was a legendary assassin and the most dangerous enforcer of the Trebai Ascendancy in the years following the Twenty-Year War. She was one of the most feared individuals in Beurum, with it being rumored that she never failed to complete a task ordered to her by the First Allegiant of Etermel.

Early Life

What does a person do when they have lost everything? When the cruel hands of fate have stretched forth all the pain they can, when the gods have poured enough grisly blood to flood their desolate house? There are those who pick up the few pieces they have left-- words, passing glances, shards of metal and stone-- and try to move on with their life. And then there are those who, with clenched fists and dead eyes, decide that the world must pay for what has happened." - Tutones of Kallimonia
A Trebai woman, the Sword Shadow was a teenager living in the Orenheid Bend region of the Western Commons during the final years of the Twenty-Year War.   According to legend, the Sword Shadow had lost most of her friends and family by the last days of the war. After the conflict's final battle, the Battle of Orenheid Bend, she found the mutilated body of her father lying in the mud. This broke the young woman. At that moment, she was found by Ivona of Vell, soon to become ruler of the Trebai Ascendancy. Ivona recognized what had happened to the young woman, and saw something in her. She offered the Sword Shadow a position in the Trebai military, and with nothing else for her, the Sword Shadow accepted.

Becoming an Assassin

Sinking all of her effort into her military training, the Sword Shadow excelled to the top of her class but made few friends. Because of her astounding skills and lack of personal connections, she was first assigned to Ivona's Royal Guard. However, Ivona soon made the Sword Shadow a personal agent, giving her her alias and sending her on a number of missions, targeting political enemies throughout Beurum.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

The Sword Shadow had to be exceptionally physical fit, as her job required arduous travels, long chases, and intense fights.

Special abilities

The Sword Shadow was trained with a wide array of weapons, and did not have any that she particularly preferred. She was said to wield shortswords, bows, quarterstaffs, crossbows, and daggers, all of the highest qualities.   In addition, the Sword Shadow was heavily trained with the use of magic. Among the spells she could cast were those that drained an opponent's life and fed her, suffocated an opponent, and set an opponent on fire.

Apparel & Accessories

The Sword Shadow wore unique and technologically advanced armor, inspired by the outfits worn by the Enforcers of Dyride. On her legs and torso, she wore protective, flexible armor made of strengthened mammoth leather, which was dyed black. Accompanying this were military boots and a dark, long cloak.    The most important part of the Sword Shadow's outfit, however, was her mask. The top half of the mask was bolted to her face, and removal was rare and extremely painful. Contained within this half of the mask was a thin visor composed of enchanted bloodstone, which enhanced the Sword Shadow's vision, especially at night. The bottom half of her mask was less permanent, so that she could eat and drink. It was composed of dark fabric that covered every part of her head not covered by the top part of her mask. Because of this equipment, the Sword Shadow kept most of her face concealed with a hood when with people she did not intend to kill. It was said that if you saw the Sword Shadow's red visor, you were seconds away from death.
