Fallaval
"In the harsh, northern regions of Wordal, lies the city of Fallaval. It is the oldest and largest city in all of Olorlay, with record of its existence going back to the first centuries before The Fall of Parretoa. No other settlement in Olorlay can make such claims, and as such, Fallaval has established itself as the true capital of the Olorlay people, divided as their clans may be.
The city is most well known for its stronghold: Fallaval Keep, a strong castle that overlooks the city, as well as Miri's Gardens. There grows a rare species of trees called Meiridag Jargenta, a species believed to be created and planted by Miri, Goddess of Nature Herself, or Milory as she is known in the Burbric tongue. These trees are so rare, that they are kept in a restricted garden, only accessible to the chiefs and priests of the city.
The Lords of Olorlay, leaders of the eight Olor clans, gather in Fallaval Keep regularly. There they discuss matters of the Olor people, making plans to counter the Knurd invasions from the north. Fjurmann Ojntund, the newly crowned King of the Knurds, has led several successful invasions and subjugated all the Knurd clans. Now the tyrannical lord has his eyes on the Olor clans, claiming rightful lordship over them through their shared cultural ancestry.
While many of these meetings start out as war councils, they often develop into petty squabbles, and finger pointing over family feuds. The eastern clans, not as directly threatened by the Knurds, have even stopped coming to these meetings altogether, causing an even greater rift between the western and eastern clans. The Fallavar clan, led by Sorren Morgar, has send out several messengers urging the eastern clans to rejoin the meetings, but so far without success. He has even threatened to leave them to their own fate, though he needs them more then they need him.
Inside the city, life is a mixture of fear and familiarity. While news of Knurds troops creeping ever closer to the borders is often heard and discussed at markets and festivals, the people go about their daily lives much the same as usual. That is to say, they still come from far and wide to visit Fallaval, the greatest of the Olor cities. You'll often find markets by the city gates and in the great squares of the city. River barges come and go, transporting goods up and down the river. Shops and stalls line the main streets, while farmers and artisan workshops can be found on the outskirts of town.
In Fallaval you will find much to do and see. Sorren Morgar is gladly accepting any mercenaries that will offer to fight for him, lesser lords are always on the lookout for muscle to settle feuds for them, and the priest class needs help tending to the last of the trees of Miri to ensure they won't be the last of their kind.
