Tiefling
The Demonized
Following the rise of religious extremism in Xelland, hostile to their 'demonic' kind, Tieflings have been driven from their homeland of Nyland to the ashen islands of Hell's Hearth, surviving only by their resistance to heat, ability to sustain themselves with only ash, and willpower, to form The Kingdom of Ashes. While other societies may accept them and orcs of the Brothers of Aukkland may even see them as friends, their new homeland is isolated from the rest of the world, making them rare.

Beauty Ideals
Modern tieflings tend to consider brighter, more striking skin colors more beautiful. Piercings that humans would consider 'non-standard', such as tail-tip and eyebrow piercings are commonly considered attractive. Makeup is considered unisex and tends to be dark as it incorporates ash.
Average Technological Level
As a result of their near monopoly on sulfur, Tieflings are responsible for the invention of gunpowder and firearms.
Common Dress Code
A history of wearing masks to shield one's face from the ashes of Hell's Hearth has lead to face coverings being somewhat expected. One's face mask is a fashion statement and mark of class. Not wearing a mask is paradoxically mark of poverty and wealth, signifying that the person either can't afford one, or is wealthy enough to remain indoors. Due to the rarity of fabric in Hell's Hearth, it's common for tieflings to wear masks made of much nicer materials than the rest of their clothes as a show of wealth, wear light clothing like togas, or go without clothes other than a mask.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Tiefling skin tones vary significantly, tending to be rather colorful, biased towards extremes of the visible light spectrum. Skin tones include blue, indigo, lavender, turquoise, white, crimson, red, black, brown, and pink. Colors including green and yellow are rare.
