COMPLETE Chapter 1: Arrival to Earth

A group of colonists is approaching Mission City in a dropship from the colony ship Twelfth of Solus. Their pilot, Cloudraker, decides to make some small talk.

Plot points/Scenes

Scene 1: In the Dropship Cloudraker makes some small talk.   CR"So, uh, you folks awake? We're nearly there."   CR"What brings you to Earth, anyway?"   CR"I've thought about [going to earth], but I don't have the cash to move the whole family, ya know? I've got a wife and two kiddos. They'd love the scenery, I guess."   Scene 2: Things Go Wrong   CR"Hold on, we're getting a distress signal from just outside of the colony. It's a Stranded frequency-- we can pick them up."   CR"Lot of folks out there-- maybe they're some of those ELF protesters. I'll take the gun, that'll spook 'em off."   Cloudraker is attacked and killed by the Speedwagons outside. Ransack makes contact.   R"Arright, all of you domies, c'mon out! We 'aven't all day!"   R"Don't keep us waiting, we've been so patient! Come on, then!"   R"Good, good, getting some sunlight, are we, domies? A bit bright, yes? Now, just drop your guns and knives and such and walk off into the desert!"   R"That's right, that's all you have to do! It's not hard... but it can be."   R"Oh, what's this? The domies don't want to leave their goodies? Oh, that's not good, is it, my droogs? Well then, the hard way it is!"   Upon defeat   R"Saint Speedia Above... you domies 'ave got a lot of nerve! I'll get you bastards yet!"   (Flees)   Scene 3: Help Arrives Streetwise and the Autoroopers arrive to scare off the Speedwagons.   SW"Hands up! This is the MCCG!"   SW"Prima son of Primus… you’re alive. Sorry we couldn’t get here sooner. This is just a customs detail, the security patrols were all occupied elsewhere.”   SW"Damn Speedwagons… they’ve been trouble before but they seem to be getting more organized. They were here before us, but if they keep this up…”   SW“They’re Velocitronian refugees, ex-convicts, troublemakers. Moved to Earth to get away from the Colonial Garrison… only to have a new Colonial Garrison drop right on top of them.”   SW“Listen, I know you’ve been through a lot, but you still need to get your papers worked out. We’ll escort you back to Mission City. I’ll try to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible.”   SW“Okay, follow me. If you spot any more of those Speedwagons on the way, yell and we’ll take care of them.”   Scene 4: Entry to Mission City After arrival at Mission city, the party is led through customs, where they gain citizenship of Mission City.   SW"You’ll just need to answer a few questions for them, give them a CNA sample. Sign the datapad and you’ll be good to go.”   Customs questions:
  1. Name?
  2. Polity of Origin?
  3. Reason for Immigration?
  4. Will you in all circumstances yield to Imperial Law while on Earth? Failure to comply will result in termination of citizenship.
Customs Officer "Welcome, citizen of Earth, to your new home, Mission City. Take this map to use as a guide. There will be a naturalization presentation at 1500 in the Main Square, and you are invited to attend."   SW "That wasn't so bad, was it? I've got a little free time left, if you want a tour of the city. Just let me know where you want to go, and I'll show you. Then we'll head to the naturalization presentation."   Scene 5: Tour The party explores the town freely. They cannot enter The Back Alley.   Scene 6: The Presentation   SW "The naturalization presentation is about to begin. It's kind of boring, but it's important. And my boss is the one giving the speech... he wants to make sure there's someone there to hear it, so I'm under orders to bring you to it. Sorry."   The party arrives in the Main Square, where a few other new settlers are taking seats. A stage has been prepared, and Sentinel Minor arrives on-stage.   SM "Welcome, my fellow citizens of Cybertron and elsewhere! Welcome to Mission City, your new home! Earth is a planet full of opportunity, and it is a great privilege for you to be here. Make sure that you don't squander it. Here on Earth, the law is the Colonial Garrison, and you'd do well to remember that. I don't care who you worked for before, your loyalty is now to the Empire. We have a place for people who step out of line. While you're outside of the colony, the Garrison's law still applies. Don't think that you're free to commit crimes outside of this dome. We patrol. If you witness a crime being committed inside or outside of the colony, report it. Keep an optic open for the Speedia Speedwagons as well-- they're violent squatters that have refused to yield to Imperial rule, we're working on exterminating them now. The other thing you'll have to keep in mind on Earth are the humans. Unless you're certified for ethnographic studies through Boltax University, all colonists are to avoid contact with humans at any cost. If there is no way to avoid contact, employ a nanomatter avatar to blend in. Courses in English are available on-campus for free. And that wraps this up... oh, wait, that's right. Okay, stay seated for a presentation on Earth cultural references from Boltax University's very own Vitae."   Sentinel Minor leaves the stage. Mindwipe takes the stage.   MW "Hello there, everyone."   SW "Who is this clown? Get him off the stage!"   Autoroopers begin to move towards the stage.   MW "I'll introduce myself. My name is Mindwipe, and I'm a member of the Black Shadows. If you don't know who we are, we're thieves. I'm here to announce that we will be stealing the most valuable thing in Mission City, and there's nothing any of you can do to stop us."   MW "What a crowd. I guess that's my cue."   Mindwipe disappears (cloaking).   SM "I want every damn trooper in the city looking for this guy! Streetwise, how the hell did he get in?"   SW "A cargo shipment arrived just a minute ago... he could have slipped through the gate then."   SM "So customs is to blame. Nice. Streetwise, start writing a report for this."   SW "Yes, sir."   SM "This is just what I needed, great. Look, if you dunces want something better to do than sit around idly, I've got some busywork you could take care of while I'll be wrangling the rest of the Garrison. Look, I'll pay you, too."   SM slips the party 150cr and a briefcase.   SM "Get this to a mech named Quake. Should be at Dancitron tonight at 2200. You didn't get this from me."   End Chapter 1
