The Voidbound Covenant

Description: The Voidbound Covenant is a secretive and malevolent faction dedicated to the pursuit of forbidden knowledge, primarily focusing on unlocking the mysteries of the gods and giants who perished in the cataclysmic war. They believe that through dark rituals and ancient pacts, they can resurrect or summon deities and titans from the void between worlds. The Covenant’s ultimate goal is to harness this power to reshape the Buried Lands to their vision of a world ruled by beings beyond mortal comprehension.   Agenda: To uncover lost divine knowledge, summon forgotten gods and giants, and tap into the power of the void to remake the world. They seek to destabilize existing power structures and bring about a new era of godlike rule, where they are the chosen intermediaries between the resurrected gods and mortals.   Symbol: A black star with a serpent consuming its own tail, representing their belief in eternal cycles of destruction and rebirth, as well as their connection to void energies and forgotten deities.

Beliefs and Practices

  • The Void as a Gateway: The Voidbound Covenant believes that the void is not simply a realm of emptiness but a place where forgotten gods and titans reside, waiting to be summoned. They see the void as a path to ultimate power, one that requires mastery over forbidden magics and ancient rituals.

  • Necromantic and Eldritch Rites: Covenant members are skilled in necromancy and eldritch magic, often using rituals that involve the consumption of souls, blood sacrifices, and the summoning of entities from the void. They believe that by commanding these forces, they can unlock the secrets of immortality and godhood.

  • Rebirth of the Divine: The Covenant seeks to resurrect fallen gods and giants, believing that their return will herald a new age. To this end, they scour ancient ruins, battlefields, and temples, searching for divine remnants—such as bones, artifacts, or the remains of old temples—that can be used in their rituals.

  • Sacrifices and Pacts: Covenant members frequently make pacts with entities from beyond the void, offering sacrifices in exchange for knowledge and power. These pacts often lead to madness or corruption, but for the Covenant, the risk is worth the reward. The higher-ranking members often bear eldritch marks, physical manifestations of their connection to the void.

  • Seers of the Abyss: The Covenant is led by a group of powerful seers who claim to have peered into the heart of the void and communed with the sleeping gods. These seers guide the faction’s actions, interpreting visions and omens to direct their dark agendas.

Hierarchy

  • Voidcaller: The highest rank within the Covenant, Voidcallers are those who have successfully communed with entities from the void and wield immense power. They lead the faction with visions of the gods' return and direct the most important rituals.

  • Seers of the Abyss: These mystics serve as advisors to the Voidcaller and act as prophets, interpreting the will of the void and guiding the Covenant’s actions. They are often the ones who choose which rituals are performed and which gods or giants are to be summoned.

  • Voidwalkers: The enforcers of the Covenant, Voidwalkers are skilled in both combat and dark magic. They serve as the faction’s muscle, protecting rituals and eliminating threats. Many of them are imbued with void-touched abilities, granting them unnatural strength or control over eldritch forces.

  • Acolytes of the Abyss: New initiates to the Covenant, Acolytes are often tasked with learning the basics of forbidden magic and carrying out the more dangerous and menial tasks in rituals. Those who prove themselves capable may eventually be elevated to higher ranks, but many perish or are driven mad by the knowledge they acquire.

  • Voidborn: Strange beings brought forth through the Covenant’s darkest rituals, Voidborn are monstrous entities that serve the faction. They are often used as shock troops or guardians of important sites, and their presence alone is enough to strike terror into most opponents.
In the void's embrace, we find the truth—only through darkness can we summon the light of forgotten gods.
