Flint Egan

Flint Egan was born in Clady, Northern Ireland. At an early age Flint had an all-consuming obsession with fire. He burned down his first building, an abandoned house outside of town, at age 7. He was sent to juvenile detention for this act and encountered harsh bullying from the Protestant boys there. Raised as well on the larger-than-life stories of Republican skirmishes and unionist cruelty, with brutal DUP Orangemen right across the River Bann, he left juvenile detention with a large chip on his shoulder and a fascination with anarchism. As a teenager he joined the Óglaigh na hÉireann, a splinter group of a splinter IRA group, and learned the terrorist trade of demolitions and explosives. At 19 he was constructing explosive devices for the Óglaigh na hÉireann and demolishing empty Protestant taverns and armories. He was personally responsible for 32 non-casualty infernos in County Tyrone alone. None of which he was charged with. But after a deadly explosion ripped apart the Tiger Bay Bar in Ballymena, killing sixteen including 4 women and 3 children, Flint fled to the US to escape arrest. It was there, hiding from police, that he was exposed to Goo and was mutated into a European salamander anthromorph.   Taken in for his skills by Boss Must and other members of the Tusk Squad, he quickly found a new family with the territorial street gang. There he met Eddie Kurosawa and struck up an immediate friendship with the mouse. He spent four years as Boss Must’s choice arsonist and bomb expert, under the nickname Burnout, and earned a reputation as the go-to-guy if you wanted to commit insurance fraud in T-Town. It felt a little immoral but it paid the bills in the end.   But after he was ambushed and left for dead by Tusk Squad (for torching a building he was told to take down, only for Boss Must to change his mind too late) he wandered broken and homeless for years. Until he was eventually taken in by Max and Miriya, as part of their recovery community.   His obsession with fire hasn’t diminished in the slightest. He fervently believes it is the great equalizer of the working people against the power elite. And never misses an opportunity to educate that lesson to anyone who will listen. With barrels of gasoline and a box of matches.   What are your personal goals?   To see the powerful taken down several pegs. To see Boss Must pay.   What are your personal beliefs? Do you have any?   That while vengeance may belong to the Lord, Burnout will happily be the instrument of it   What is your job/role in society? In the party? Was it different before your “origin”?   Demolitions, demolitions, demolitions.   Who is your closest friend or family member?   Eddie Kurosawa. Burnout is loyal to few people (he admires and respects Max and Peri) but he’ll back up Eddie in nearly any situation.   Do you have enemies? Who are they?   BHP Agent Alex Krycek and Interpol fire investigator Johan Orr   Are you wanted or notorious?   Yes. His new mutated form keeps him being easily identified from his old appearance. But Interpol and the BHP are beginning to look at his destruction as Burnout and comparing it to Flint Egan’s old modus operandi.   Do you have a rival? If so, who are they?   Max is a little bit of a rival though he respects the raccoon’s ingenuity and genius. Burnout is more than a little jealous of Max’s brains.   What do you do for fun and entertainment? Do you have hobbies?   Burn shit down. Specifically gambling establishments, nightclubs and dens of inequity owned by Boss Must.   What’s one lie your character believes about themselves? What’s one lie they believe about the world?   That they are the architect of justice and equality and not a pyromaniac, an arsonist and an unconvicted murderer.   Does your character have a love life or romantic interests?   Not yet.   Do you have a secret (dark or otherwise)?   Yes. That for all his grandiose talk about justice and equality, Burnout just likes seeing things burn.
